Painting your Valve Cover

You pop your hood and it's pretty plain. You think to yourself, "hmm... maybe I should paint the valve cover" but then again you don't know exactly how to do it. What paint should you use? Can you just paint it straight on the engine? How do you even take the valve cover off?

No worries - if you want to do this inexpensive job, here's what you need and how to do it. Painting your valve cover is one of the easiest and basic mods that can be done on any car, and by itself can dramatically change the look under your hood...

right now its 34 degrees here at its 10:18 pm. i was wondering if i could take of my valve cover now, clean/degrease it, and primer it. is the 34 degree weather cold enough to effect how the primer sets? i wanted to primer it today so its ready tommarow for the paint, and i wont really have too much time to do everything tommarow.

Also, if i let the engine sit without the valve cover on over - night in the cold weather (in a garage and covered with a rag). will it hurt the engine in any way.

Thanks,
-Tomek

last time I was painting shit I read on the can that the temp had to be at least in the mid 60's range. I could be VERY wrong though (lol).
