I wanted to make my 240SX sound more like a race car. I'm gonna do headers soon to decrease backpressure and decided to just go ahead and do a whole new exhaust. What muffler should I use or is there a real good cat- back that I should get. Also should I do the cat now or wait a while on it, and if so, which cat is best?

I like Siamese cats.
I'm with him, but I'd look into custom made piping, it's cheap. Or you can always go with everything everyone else is about to say here in a sec.. and decrease backpressure, you going turbo? otherwise backpressure is good.

OR do you see that red thing up thur? it's blinking. It's a miraculous thing.

It wants you to press it

I've never had any experience with any custom exhaust places, but what you recomended is kind of what I'm looking for. Around what price do you think that would go for? Also, where can I see where Siamese cats sound like, I know there is a lot of exhaust clips on exhaustclips.com for my Trans Am, is there a site similar to this for 240sx exhaust sounds?

Also what is a good diameter for an exhuast on a car that I plan to keep under 200hp and around 180hp? I'm guessing a lot of people would are gonna say 3'' but I just wanna be sure before I have any work done. Note that I'm looking for noise firstly, but would like a good hp increase as well.

Ok...I've decided to take some time and reread your posts and here is my opinion...

I don't know where your getting that HP goal from (unless you want a stock RB20)...but I'm going to assume your car will be turbo. If that's the case a 3" piping exhaust would be ideal.

Now...if you think your thinking of reaching this HP range N/A with a KA (a lot work IMO)....no matter what size exhaust you get...it will be insanely loud and deep.

Going along with that....your exhaust note depends not only on your piping, having a resonator, cat, etc.....but it heavily depends on what motor your going to have.

I can't suggest what exhaust system to go with since its really personal preference...but I can say which ones I like...given your interested.

If you want the car to sound good I highly recommend a Apexi N1 catback, one with a resonator, It wont be to loud, its a deep sound, sounds like a old open header car just quieter, and when you get on it it is like a mean ferrari (with less balls)...

then get a test pipe and a header and ur set
