Mods to tide me over?

I've purchased a stock 1997 240sx SE automatic as a daily driver soon to be project track car. My ultimate goal is auto-x and time attack with drifting on the side. The car is in great condition with the exception of dings in the body. Engine is strong and it was very well kept by the last owners.

I know a good deal about cars in general and nothing about the 240's engine (will be researching that as I go along). I know I will be doing an engine/trans swap down the road so I want to start focusing on suspension. I'm tight on cash after the car purchase so I'm wondering what small mods can I do to tide me over?

I was thinking small items like accessories and items like sway bars, strut bars. Anyone have some reccomendations on products that don't cost an arm and a leg that could just kinda give me a tuner-fix? I don't want to waste money on engine mods I can't reuse with an SR20. Would something like some Nology spark plug wires be reusable from the KA24DE to the SR20DET?

If you want to do small things don't really worry about the engine. Like wires SR's don't use wires so no point. If you want something then get an exhaust those work between the two. A good route to go would be to get used to the car then add stuff progressively. Start with sway bars. Then step up to some TC rods, and maybe adjustable RCA's. After that I would start looking into brakes like the Z32, Q45, stock upgrade, or whatever else intrerests you. Then I would get some coilovers or look into a good wheel/tire combo...

Sorry for being ignorant, but what are TC rods and RCA's?

I def. plan on working the suspension first. I was also looking at the BNR 2.5" exhaust since it won't hurt the KA24DE's performance and won't hamper the SR20's.

As for brakes I was planning on the Z32s since I know a junkyard with quite a few of them.

TC rods are Tension Rods they will firm up the steering response upfront. RCA's are Rear Control Arms. These allow you to adjust the camber of the car for better traction. If you get RCA's though you need to have the car aligned properly instead of just sticking them on. Both can be found at various 240 shops such as www.splparts.com or one of our advertisers...

upgraded/larger tires will give you better performance than any other mod
