Ok i'm not a noob to the nissan stuff and w.e because my friends, and i've been looking for a 240 since the beginning of the year.

i've had 3 CRX's in the past and in 2 of t hem i swapped a b18C5 and a b16

(just want to make you guys know i'm not a complete noob on cars)

and i finally bought a 240. NO I DIDNT BUY IT BECAUSE OF THE GAY TOKYO DRIFT, BECAUSE I SEE ALL THESE DUMB ASS PEOPLE WANTING TO GET 350Z'S AND 240'S AND SHIT JUST BECAUSE OF THAT GAY ASS MOVIE. WHEN PEOPLE HERE BEEN TALKING ABOUT DRIFTING AND AUTOXing' FOR THE LONGEST.

but yyeah.

i blew the head gasket on the way home and the exhuast is a little rattlely.

i'm going to take it to the shop and then get that stuff fixed + a tune up.

Should there be any other problems that i should look out for the future?

The car is a 89 240SX Coupe 5speed with 114XXX miles on it.

5th gear pops out every 2 miles or so. So i know the syncro's might be f*A# up.

i guess this post is a introduction of myself and what i found are the problems to the car.

Grats! Got mine not too long ago as well.

Hey I was going to buy a 95 supra turbo for $14k back in the day then that damn movie came out and the price went to $23k that week...

But on the brighter side, the F&F has done amazing things for our industry if we want to admit it or not. We have more press, more events, more supporters. It's amazing really. I had to scavange junkyards (and still do) for any upgrades I wanted because only muscle car upgrades were around and I didn't want to take out loans to have parts fabricated or import parts (overnight!) from Japan.

Welcome, try and get some pics of the car up. Just give it a tune up, replace headgasket of course, and you should be fine. I'd check the P.S. lines, theres been quite a few people that have had problems with them leaking including me.

Oh as for the tune up stuff, just look around, replace any hoses and belts that look worn. Make sure the fluids are good. A trans swap is faily simple and affordable, I would say get a SR 5-speed tranny since they are known for holding up to more abuse.

Someone else reccomended the tie rods and rear control arms get upgrades for handeling.

SR and KA are the exact same except for the bellhousings and 5th gear is longer on the SR's I believe. they can handle the same amount of abuse though

and tie rods are a very good suspension mod, but you won't need the ruca's unless you want to adjust rear camber

sr and ka are the exact same gear boxes. different bellhousings. dave i think your thinking of the ca tranny. ca's 5th gear is a little shorter than the sr/ka ones.

they will both hold up to the "abuse" figuring they are the same gear boxes. good luck. pick up a transmission in the junkyard or ebay for like 100 dollares

meh, i try to learn too much and it mixes together sometimes

KA24DE Gear Ratios:
Manual
1st 3.321
2nd 1.902
3rd 1.308
4th 1.000
5th 0.759
Rev 3.657
Final Drive Ratio: 4.083

SR20DET Gear Ratios
Manual
1st 3.214
2nd 1.925
3rd 1.302
4th 1.000
5th 0.752
Reverse 3.369

CA18DET gear ratios
Manual
1st 3.321
2nd 1.902
3rd 1.308
4th 1.000
5th 0.838

Mystery solved. biggest difference in the SR trans and the KA trans is second gear. KA being 1.902 and SR being 1.925. wopping .02 differnce. 5th gear being almost identical KA being .759 and SR being .752. the ca was the shorter one with .838. so i was right. glad to settle that one

hey thanks for the info.

i'll think i'm going to 1st get all the mechanical issues worked out 1st.
i'm going to take the headgasket and get that fixed, along with the exhuast then i'll ask them to take a look at the car for any other thing that's wrong, or that i might need.

i'll try to get pics ASAP. i'll probably go out by lake michigan today and take pics.

as for the car. right now i just want to perfect the little issues. which was stated that i am going to do. (Tune up, replacing hoses, headgasket, ETC.)

1st big thing i'm going to do is get the door fixed. =/ it was involved in a accident and the rocker panel got messed up.

other than that i'll work on suspention 1st ( AND I GOTA SAY THE CAR IS SWEET AT MAKING TURNS!!! WOW!!!! It's NOTHING LIKE A HONDA)

um. i'm thinking of getting a SR20DET swap.
but i just SR20DE and SR20DET

What's the diffrence in the motors?

OH and as for my initial plans for the car, i just want to make it nice and clean, drop it about 2 and a quater inch. make it as clean as possible with a engine swap. =)

SR - Engine Code
