There's a popping noise from my muffler when I decelerate. It happens when I'm around 2.2k-1k rpm. Everything on it is stock. What can be causing this? Also, I'm going to go in for my emission's inspection this coming week so can I pass emissions?

15 atdc is normal at idle guys. If it is a backfire under heavy accel. Its electrical because thats when the ignition system is fighting the highets amount of resistance. Then you have a problem with spark plugs or something electrical. A backfire is caused by raw fuel coming out of the exhaust valve and igniting in the pipe. This happens with aftermarket exhaust because there is no backpressure. In other words a little fuel escapes the exhaust valve on the next compression stroke. Nothing to worry about. Has anyone heard of putting stronger exhaust valve springs in to solve this prob.

You should pass emissions, my car backfires like a damn srt-4 with my blitz nur spec exhaust. Lucky for me I have an emissions license...so I never fail emissions. :eek3dance
