A lot. It can handle more than 99.9% of the owners can throw at it. The 20 crank is like the other RB cranks which means it has very good build quality and it's forged to boot. Along with the crank girdle in place I would say it could handle more than 800+ flywheel HP if the rotating assembly is balanced...

i am completely building an rb20det....and i was wondering about the crank on it.... going pistons, cams, valve springs, big turbo, big fuel system, fuel managaement, the whole works hoping for 600+...if anyone could help find some rods for it that would be nice because ic ant find any.

bah, 600whp in a s chassis is nothing more than a dynoqueen and will only serve to boos the ego.
be happy with 300 and 400 on over boost.
with any luck i'll crack 350whp on 14psi and scrape 450whp on 18-22psi.

You're not prepared both Carl and I have had a lot of trouble getting parts for our motors. I was having some pistons and rods made, but they ended up wanting close to $3000 for the set. I got my money back on that on that deal. Then finding normal parts that aren't rediculously high is hard to come by. If you want to rebuild plan on spending at least $9,000-10,000 for 600HP if you want it done correctly...

no worries i am prepared to spend what i have to, to make the power i want. I dont care what you people think about bah 600hp is too much. It is a project car not a daily driver. I understand about the chasis but i have friends in a performance shop who can weld the chasis. I have many parts i have found for the RB and they have not been terribly expensive. Rods are the only part i have not found, but i also haven't looked that hard for them. The thing with parts is that RBs are becoming more common so many performance places are beginning to make partsfor RBs. This is something i want to do, its something i have been wanting to do for a long time, just swapping in a stock RB and raising the boost is not sufficient to me, its cheap and everyone does it. Im trying to be unique and i am asking nicely please do not say I'm crazy and stupid for what im doing. I respect that you are just warning me, but i have thought this through.

I for one whole hartedly support your quest for 600+ whp. In the long run, I plan to make 550-600whp, possibly stroking to a 2.2, 2.3, or 2.4. I mean come on. People put down 600whp in dsm's. I helped build a 450whp gsx so I know how much power that feels like. Yeah, it is a lot. That's why I am going for that mark on the stock motor, then building another for 600. You will have crazy fun making 600whp and I think it would be a bigger ego boost to have a stock rb26 in your car, just to say (dur I have a gt-r motor). So yell yeah go make power with the 20.

BTW I have 4 stock rods I don't give a shit about. If anyone needs one to get rods made, I will ship to you at your expense!

Oh, and I found this set. I think the price is quoted in NZ, so we would pay about 60% of that

Unique autosports out of aussie land? They have them for $950AU or around $720US. They are forged, but I don't know who makes them. they could be like Eagle rods were they are only marginally stronger than factory prepped rods. After my headaches I have just decided to WPC treat the rods and throw some forged CP pistons in. Or go another route all together(LS1)...
