well as stated i need help in picking some sort of fuel/timing management.. i have a 98 240sx that i plan on getting some boost loving going on ( ka24de ) some time in the future but i am planning things out now....

as alot of you know most companies havent hit on anything that will replace or reflash the 98 ecu, you almost always have to go to a 95 ecu and find a way around emissions ( basicly a downgrade if you can call it that lol from obd2 to obd1 ) so that you can get by with out hooking up to the scanner...

i would rather not do this as its a pain and i dont really want to deal with that headache...

so on to other options:

bikirom is supposed to be working on a 97-98 ecu daughterboard that would work perfect for what i want.. runs off the stock sensors and is rather simple to install, but then its off to the dyno.. which isnt such a bad thing... but they are slower than i would like when it comes to getting stuff on the market...

emanage ultimate: not a bad idea.. they offer one of the few turbo kits that includes more than just a FMU for fuel, and i have heard that the newer versions can control timing which is a big plus. I have also heard that it works alot like a SAFC2 in which it just somewhat tricks the ecu into doing what it wants and that scares me.. but it also has an autotune IIRC and that will help cut down on dyno time and make tuning alot easier (if i am wrong about the way an emanage works please inform me ). another drawback is not a lot of people that i have seen in the wonderful world of the internet has used them, and those that have had have trouble ( maybe earlier versions of it? ) and that also scares me..

SAFC2 has been the biggest following of users, and it seems to be the most tried and true method but there is no timing control and again, its just tricking the ecu...but i dont plan on running anything more than 300 hp so this might be my easiest route but then any car is just as good as its tune and there is no timing control unless i go with a MSD BTM but i would rather have an all in one type unit...

megasquirt II the only tuning method i havent really researched because its a full stand alone.. just throwing this one out there for ideas...

any ideas and or thoughts would be helpful..

thanks in advance guys..

ummmm its a pain to unplug once ecu and plug in another when did that happen? not to be a jerk but how lazy are you that you cant move one pin and plug in the ecu from the old one? MS meh its ok, safc2 meh not full standalone, same with emanage ultimate. So here is what you do, fork out the money for a haltech e8. But if your not lookin for more than say 400-500 whp you can get by with just a piggy back system, If you will change your ecu i would tell you to go with the bikirom but it seems to me that you dont want to do that for whatever reason even though its probably the easiest thing known to man to do. Haltech for full standalone unless you will change your ecu, they are still havin problems with glitch in the programs with obdll at biki the last time i checked.

i think you misunderstood me, i said going bikirom or older ecus is okay, i just want to have THE EMISSIONS MONKEY to be able to plug in and get a green light once a year... thats all

An Airflow Output Map option even allows for airflow meter elimination.
I like that.

Seems like there isnt any parts listed for the airflow conversion thiny. There is still no wiring harness adaptors and any other add-ons yet.

yeah greddy tends to be greedy but i can get parts ( the sr20forum almost always had em for sell ) just the thought of having to add an injector harness then an ingnition harness to it kind of makes it really $$$

ohhhhhhh i got ya, but the problem still remains when he pops the hood to do the visual hes not gonna pass you, i can garuntee it. Unless you know s1 to take your car to what you should do is bikirom that bitch and keep the obdll ecu, then when you need to get it smogged pull the turbo and turbo mani, put the stock peices back on and roll down to the smog station with the ecu you originally took out, besides its only once a year that you have to do it. But i dont know its kinda up to you but sorry bout the misuderstanding with the whole biki thing, bikirom is so bad ass if i wasnt goin RB powered id be runnin one =]

power fc all the way man, you can still unplug it if you want
edit my bad forgot the whole ka thing. biki it up like /\ said

^ yeah its not, with jwt you leave it up to clark to tune your car.. with biki you tune your car or pay to have someone local who hopefully knows what they are doing to tune it..

^? what?? lol i am utah, the little cali lol

I think if your going to make a serious effort in ecu tuning and understanding how to tune, the best way and cheapest would be to get into rom tuning. you can do so much with the factory ecu with just a little soldering and some time learn. you will also have the benefits of the factory ecu like the dash board and error codes :)
check out eccs.hybridka.com
u can find all the info u need here and lots of help. and downloadable roms similar to your tune!

from what i have heard though you cant chip or rom tune a 97-98 ecu... and if i was going to go that route then bikirom it would be, basicly a re-writable rom chip

there are plenty of other options... alot utilize a 95 ecu which isnt a problem when passing smog... you just might need to change to a 3 wire sensor or use a sensor eliminator from www.o2simulator.com to avoid cel. i wired mine up and it works fine. you can always just give the inspection guy a $20 and forget all of that. im using an emanage blue with support tool to retard timing and compensate for larger injectors/t25. there are alot of indepenent tuners out there that will do an ecu tune for alot cheaper than jwt and scott at enthalpy
