Hellz yea homie... Way to join me in the stickies in this section. Car looks good. Taking it's an N/A 13B... Any more future plans for the engine and body?

#3 ·
haha yeah :)

Its NA for now, if I get bored with it like 2 years from now I could go boost.

and actually yes I do have future plans

get an s13 front lip (they look hot on FCs, zenki or chuki lip)

find a set of wheels I want, I dunno if im gunna stick with the 4 lug or not but if i swap its gunna cost alot more since I will need 2 sets of wheels instead of 1 more set.

also when its getting under paint, im getting the antenna shaved and the mirrors/wing repainted as well.

engine wise Im gunna mess with the intake manifold and throttle body when I have the extra time and money and squeeze a few more poneys out of it :)

next summer it gets tanabe springs, racing beat sway bars (front and rear) wheels 17"s hopefully.

#4 ·
Sounds like a plan bro... You happen to have any pics of an FC with the S13 front lip on it? I can't say that I've ever seen one, nor heard that they fit. :12dunno

#6 ·
Ah... That's cool. I guess you learn something new everyday then. I might have to pass that along to my buddy who is making an FC drift car. Only he is running a 13B-RE with street port and a GT35R with Microtech. Should make for a nice car. :D

#8 ·
Yea... It should be. I'm sure we will have some videos of it in action on the highway and around a drift course. Maybe even some auto-x events. But I'll be sure to share them with ya. :thumbsup Might even get some ideas... I'll try to remember to snag some pics of the motor next time I go home.

#9 ·
yeah I need some underhood shots, if my radiator wasnt at an angle I couldprobably fit in my engine bay with the engine still in it heh

oh and today I just picked up some 15" oz wheels from those oz-rally lancers.

just didnt want the phone dials anymore and I traded some old stuff I had for it :)

pics soon to come.

#10 ·
Sounds like a plan homie. The motor for my buds car is still on an engine stand until we get some more parts prior to installing the engine to make it easier on us. I'll try to get some pics the next time I head back though...

#12 ·
Your FC need teh paint! Don't feel bad, my buds looks WAY worse than yours at the moment. Like WAAAAAYYYYY worse. Keep us updated on it and look forward to seeing some vids of it running soon. :woowooo

#13 ·
Went home last weekend but was unable to capture any pics since we didn't go down to his shop at all... Went out to hang out with our car buds out of town instead. I'll try to get some of the engine sometime to share with ya.

#14 ·
update!!!!
AEM UEGO installed and currently working on a street pen and paper tune

i just need to figure out how to get around the narrowband TPS for a wideband one, it be easier to tune.

oh and this weekend I'm going to get an aluminum hood with a turbo scoop and its molded too :)

and maybe before holloween there will be paint! and an FC with no sunroof...

:O !!!!!!!!!!!!!

im gunna be around 2600lbs or less

#15 ·
Sounds good homie... 2600lbs isn't too bad for an FC. But you'll never beat the weight savings of swapping your engine over to a Miata. :p Snag some pics of the hood when you get a chance. Is it OEM style or aftermarket?

#17 ·
Ruh roh... I know how it goes though unfortunately. I'm a little broke myself... Post pics of the hood when you get put on...

#18 · (Edited)
yeah its gunna look gooofy :D

fadded blue car, bright white hood heh.

my friends and I were bored as hell this weekend and went off to the dead backroads of michigan and did some drags.

my buddy kyles car:

1981 camaro z28 SB 350 5.7lt rebuilt motor and trans, other than that. stock

my friend brian's car:

1999 VW GTI 2.8lt VR6 exhaust and some chip

first race vrs the z28:

3rd gear pull from 50-100, got a cars length on him around 70-80mph heh

second race vrs the camaro:

dead stop, took him like nobodys buisness

3rd race vrs camaro:

2nd gear pull from a roll 10mph

this one was a much closer race till I started hitting around 6krpm then I took off away from him

now for the vdub, first race:

from a standstill, he kept spining his one tire and I just connected and beat him by like 2-3 car lengths

second race vrs the VR6:

once again to give them a fair advantage I did a 10mph roll from 2nd gear and by the time he kinda inched up on me near 100mph but other than that I was just pulling on him but he cought when I shifted from 3rd to 4th but still I kept pulling on him

:)

next time its a 2001 VW bug with the 2.0lt turboed, not sure how much boost its running.

the stock bug motor is 1.8t or 2.0 N/A this one was turboed and a rebuilt motor, not sure how much boost is being run, but on a cold day, depending on how its intercooled or if at all I have a good chance of loosing, but an intersting race it will be....

Cool deal dude... Not too shabby for the old FC. Keep up the kills!

#22 ·
Not too bad on the hood...

#24 ·
Yea... That doesn't look too bad for $200. Hell, I paid more than that for a front lip for my Miata!

#25 ·
okay hood update, I didnt get that hood but I got the other hood the guy had.

I was going to buy that AL hood but he was getting in this 800 dollar fiberglass hood and didnt like how it flowed with his body kit so he wanted to keep the hood in the pic above so I got the fiberglass one for 200 bones.

its gunna be on the market soon most likely, pics soon to come.

#26 ·
Didn't flow with his body kit? Oh no... Hopefully it's not one of those ricey ones out there for the FC.

#27 ·
it looks like an FD hood on an FC:

Image

its spray painted white over the ready to paint fiberglass.

and it comes with those black slits or whatever to keep rain out from the scoops and stuff

whatdya think?

most likely gunna sell it and get another AL hood and have cash on hand for spendin, maybe buy these wheels I wanted, maybe not dunno if i will need to go to 5 lug yet or not.

#28 ·
Hmmmm... Almost like my bud's FD Scoot style hood. I like that however rather than the additional middle scoop in the front on the Scoot hood. But with that, you do know you're gonna have to put a nice body kit and front mount intercooler to make it look decent and actually be functional. Only bad thing is that you have made a low pressure area rather than utilizing one under the hood. Still shouldn't be bad though. :thumbsup

#29 ·
which is why im probably gunna just sell it.

it does kinda take away the fun of a stock bodied car.

and I know already where to get a few different AL hoods, it wouldnt look as well I dont think with no body kit.

so by me putting on that scoot style hood, it does negative affects you say? for me N/A?

#30 ·
Just that rather than removing heat from under the hood it will just cause air coming from the radiator to go out rather than evacuating heat from under the rear portion of the bonnet which is important as well. This is due to a low pressure area that is formed under the hood from the factory. Rather than allowing that low pressure area to be evacuated, you are just creating another low pressure area under the hood along with the other one. It all just depends on the design of the hood and such. By looking at that one and how far the vents go back, you might actually would be okay. But yea, that hood is kinda extreme for a mild application. Just my $.02.

#32 ·
Lookin nice man, I've been lookin around for a clean FC the past week or so as I need a car SOON, I can't seem to find any clean ones or ones that I wouldn't be worrying about the engine going, it seems like I'll be hopping to another S13 by tomorrow hah.
I love that style hood on the FDs, not sure how it'd look on an FC though.

#33 ·
yeah, and ebay is just showing crap this week for cheap FCs heh

and I put a feeler for it up on a few boards and already got nibbles within minutes, I could have myself hundreds of dollars in profit and a new hood.

im such a bastard, but im unemployed and only have 109 dollars to my name lol.

#34 ·
Yeah... This will help with radiator cooling. Did you happen to check out the article from SCC this month? About aerodynamics... They explain aerodynamics pretty well and how crappy hood designs mess up aerodynamics. From the looks of that hood however, it looks like it will vent air for the radiator as well as the engine heat since the vents go so far back into the hood. But unless you are concerned with making a pure track car to bust lap times day after day, I wouldn't worry too much about the aerodynamics.

#36 ·
How would it shatter in the winter? A lot of cars use fiberglass body panels... And I know it doesn't get THAT cold up there in Chi-Town...

#39 ·
You'll be alright... I promise.
