how much are you looking to spend?

as far as i know, here is south florida, doing a sr20 swap and turboing a KA well cost about the same. maybe even a little more for the KA. the KA wasn't ever meant to be turboed. it can be done, but if your not gonna get your psi's in the teens without some engine work, unless you dont care about blowing your engine.

which is kinda why most of the population of silvia owners would rather swap in an sr20...its just easier i say

as for the question you asked...im not sure if its just a thing in florida but im pretty sure it cost MORE to turbo a KA rather than just getting an sr20 swapped in here at cali...

JGS sells a turbo kit for the E. but piecing your kit out your self is usualy cheaper. my self pieced kit cost around 1.6K with wideband, Emanage, rb20 turbo. im making my own IC piping, manifold and downpipe. if you have a low miles KA its worth turboing, theres way more Tq down low with a biger engine, and with gas prices so high ou dont need to rev the piss out of it to get any power. preaty much for 1.6K you will get an stock SR with sidemount. no front mount IC no up grades what so ever, o and you lose .4L may not me a big deal to some but every other DSMs got 2.0

JGS has a kit for the SOHC that sells for 1.6k (http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/ka24et.html), its a very good kit (havent bought it but they are a very reputable company and I will buy there kit when I get the cash) as for turboing the SOHC its not a bad idea at all, they very good motors and very resilient, there are SOHC on stock internals with 400 hp (kinda scary, could blow some stuff fast, but to each his own) . If you want 250 ish horse power you dont need to upgrade the internals, so do a basic rebuild, then turbo it, tune it for safe boost, and your good to go, 2-2.5k tops.

Its really up to you, the SOHC motor is very easy to work on, very simple so if somthing goes wrong you can fix it your self most likley. Im kinda biased cuz I love this motor. hope this helped.
