Shit sun... Im glad i didnt go to UTI. Instead I wasted my money at Wyotech.

Personlly with you saying that UTI's telling you your gonna make a 6 digit sallary that makes me think they are just as full of shit as Wyotech.

Anyways, your incab intercooler idea is a waste of time. Also your muffler-mount turbo is just confusing me...

Boy UTI sure did pump alot of useless bullshit into your head didnt they. Be sure to ceramic coat the outside of your car too!! that would be SO COOL!

serious? in cockpit intercooler? how will it actually cool anything? and muffler mount turbo setups are extremely laggy and inefficient...

this thread is useless, you have no idea what financial situation will be at that time, and your dream setup will change thousands of times within that time period. this is as useful a post as 16yr old noobs asking "what setup will I need to get 800rwhp?".

And remember kids, there is absolutley NO FLAMING ALLOWED...

Why cant everyone be in this frame of mind....finances are always in the air...remember you are still building a 240SX....and Two4tyKid is right about UTI.....Wyotech, and all these other tech schools are the same....at the end its always your hard work.....and a six digit salary in the first five years?.....shit sun.....and i'm in the aviation business.....lol.....I say this with no offense....
 
ok so im gotting close to the end of my schooling at UTI (the Auto tech school that is way over advertised on TV) and i have a pretty good chance of pulling down a low six figure income in a couple five years, and i was asking some advice, opinions, suggestions, blah blah, just basic bullshittin'

my car is an engine-less 89 fastback. i am thinking a few very different options...

option A : do a full race/drift setup, muffler-mount turbo, massive in-cockpit intercooler, custom intake mani, full standalone, headwork, pistons, rods, sleeves(maybe), ceramic coat every thing possible, cage, suspension, blah blah...

option B : some how track down a 2007 vq35hr 350Z/G35 engine/tranny and do that swap, custom mounts and driveshaft...i have seen a guy megasquirt the vq35de engine...but it was out of an altima...

or

option C : fuck it and get a newer 240 and do an S15 sr + tranny and go from there...balls to the wall of course!

i don't really know what would be cooler...and i am still miles away from even touching the project but i wanna know what you guys think? i want something origional, thats why i was thinking the muffler mount turbo, but also something reliable and fast. i dunno i just wanna be able to give high line cars(i.e. m3, viper, vette, any amg benz) the finger at 100+ mph and keep pulling strong...i dont really want an RB because i know nothing about them and there is very very little aftermarket support, and parts are a nightmare!

if anyone knows about the VQ swap i would be more than interested in chatting, i kinda wanna now about mounting and fuel control more than anything. thanks for your time...


dude got a question is UTI a good school? Is it worth going to? and is NISSAN one of the companys that you can specialize in?

hahahaa uti is marvelous! they do have a nissan program yes! and the jackasses who say its useless obviously went there for the wrong reasons! they teach you basically everything you could ever need to know about how to ba a flat rate technician! its all about how much you listen and how well you apply yourself! if its something you wanna do then yes its a great school, but there are a lot of kids there with the wrong intentions and a shitty frame of mind like the other guy you quoted! its a good school! but on that note im sorry for even sharing my dreams with you assholes...i will take it down!!

I went to tech, i contimplated going to UTI. A friend went their and said it wasnt that great.

Just like I went to Tech and said it wasnt that great. I mean they are both good schools but they promise so much more. Seriously, me and you would of been better off not waisting our money and time and we should of been apprentices.

Not really tryin to flame ur school or anything, mine sucked too. If you apply yourself u do get alot out of it, I know it did. But im might only be making half of a 6 digit sallary.

You have to know people to get places. First step is knowing someone that will hire u on to not do the bitch work. Just cause u went to a tech school it doesnt make u an expert, you still dont have the production shop experience.

Well anyways, you do have big dreams but keep in mind that there is a difference between practical and good & "bad ass custom".

A normal front mount intercooler is just fine, not alot of tubing, very efficeient. Dont see why u would want to mount it in the cab.

The rear mount turbo like STS or whatever companie does that is a good idea for cars that have absolutely NO room under the hood. Ive seen VG30dett swapped s13s that still have the stock turbo setup. If you want a test of space that my friend is one fine example.

Dont u know the KISS rule? keep it simple stupid! duh...

well thats not really my personality, i want it to be as complicated as possible just so that when people open the hood it boggles their mind!! i was thinking of the incab intercooler because its not blocking the radiator for 1 and 2 you can fab it up to blow through a tray of dry ice...then on top of that it would be the ultimate sleeper, you would hear boost but open the hood and see a N/A race header...and the intake mani pointed through the firewall...it would give me wood thats all, and i would be a little more simple overall than making all those bends in the piping that you would with a front mount...just straight up through the car and straight to the throttle body! but i guess "240sxaddict" has a point that i will change my mind by the time i get around to it, but it was fun to dream about...
 
i wnet to wyotech to and wow what a waist of money that was oh yea they told me ill be making over 100.000 a yea and there job placement program sux
so now im going to the the wizerd school of fabrication
should of went there in the first place i would of saved so much fucking money

update...

yea i was that guy that was blabbing about in cab intercoolers and a 6 figure salary five years out of UTI...yea i figured you deserved an update! i graduated in January, landed a job with Lexus. and now six months later after lots of hard work and 3 ASE certifications i make roughly 1700 every two weeks, do the math, thats like 40,000 yearly, and thats six months after school. the sky is the limit after 5 years!! so i dunno i just didn't want to go down in 240sx forums history as a mindless douche that didn't know what the hell he was talking about!!!
