simple wiring. Take your USDM tail lights, chop off the plug and chop off your plug on the JDM ones. Then just match the colors using your USDM plugs on your JDM tails. Make sure you use shrink where you have soldered, just in case you don't put that black crap back on properly(can't remember what its called!)

 

is soldering really necessary? cant i just use wire connectors and crimp them together? im not comfortable soldering since ive never done it before.

 

soldering is always better than crimping connectors on.

If you are going to go the soldering route, please make sure you cover the connection up with either (preferred) shrink wrap or as a last resort, electrical tape.

 

shrink is the best, it'll last forever and wont wear. Electrical tape gets gooey in the heat and makes a mess if you ever need to make changes. All my wiring is soldered and shrink wrapped. You'll never see me on the side of the road

 

well, im finished...soldered and shrinked...everything works perfect....now for the next dosage of fun....butyl sealent

 

taking the old one off was a huge PITA. Try to get some goo-gone or something, worked good for me. Just use a hairdryer or heatgun, either will work well when putting on the new stuff. Try to press the light in a little bit as your heating it up, worked really well for me for some reason and I've never had leaking problems...from the lights anyways, stupid wheel well is another problem! Post pics when ur done!

 

ok i should have pics around this weekend...i used 3m adhesive remover and it wiped right off...i did that about a week ago while i was extremely bored.

 

You can use prepsol (wax and grease remover used by body shops) to get the old stuff off.
