K guys my grand dad gave me his 383 stroker 4 bolt main today cause he's dropping a 400 in his truck now, so I was wondering what everyone thinks I should do? I could sell the 383 and use the money to fininsh rebuilding my sr and maybe rebuild my Ka? or I could drop it in my hatch and drop the sr in my coupe or drop[ the 383 in my coupe and put the sr back in the hatch? decisions decision..

383 in the hatch, make it your dd, then sell the SR and KA and built a CA drift coupe!!
lol the 383 hatch would definitely not be a daily driver sucks to much gas get like 10 miles to the gallon if that.. and I've actually been interested in the ca lately but don't know nothin at all about it.
my friends all love the ka-t but I'm still not convinced I still don't care much for it.
Well, i think im gonna go CA. Supposedly just swapping in an SR turbo and adding a boost controller can yeild 220-ish whp, assuming you went fm intercooler. This is from what ive read thi, so dont take my word for it.

And I guess it you gotta through on your own BOV and probs get an ecu tune before u do anymore upgrades after that.

But a CA swap should run you about $1300 plus intercooler cost, so it is a cheap way to go. And you don't even need that much hp in a drifter, right?

And as far as the mileage for the 383, just change the gearing. Look at a base model corvette. It has a 6.2 L I think, and it still gets 26 mpg highway. Just chance the gearing and jeep them RPMs wat dar down! Its not like you need shorter gearing with a 383's power output
lol no kidding this 1 puts down like 560hp what my grand dad was telling me. But I would still have to find mounts and a trans but trans wise I think 2 speed powerglide. but I already have intercooler and piping and turbos out my butt. etc. so Where would I get a ca18det?
JDM source sells them for $1300 USD, but try looking around on local ads for a cheaper price. I'm probly gonna get one locally for $1200 for a full front clip personally. But whatever you use, make sure it's leakage and compression tested and ask to see the results. Remember, it is a couple years older than the s13 sr20s. And don't buy Nismo mounts btw. Apparently they mount the engine too high which may cause some clearance problems. Google hockey puck mounts. Apparently they're wayy better and only cost pocket change.

And as for the 383, LOL 560 is defs enough in a 240! You could use taller gearing than a diesel! And look into the hybrid section for this, but if the 383 is a stroker of the 350 like I think, there ARE engine mounts out there. And try to find a 5 speed man that would bolt up to whatever year engine you got. For fuel efficiency sake
By local source do You mean go look in the junk yard and Find a pulsar??? cause craigslist has nothing for my area.
go for the 383. And then again maybe you should just get an sr, that way you don;t have to change your username.

No. The nismo mounts do occasionally have quality issues and I personally am not a fan. But hockey puck mount are retarded
I do have a sr..:giggle:just wondering what to do with it lol. And my friend has hockeypuck mounts they stiffen the engine up alot I'm not a big fan of them. because they break alot to under alot of pressure.
