Hey everyone Just wanna say hello. I'm new here and I just picked up a 1990 Nissan 240SX coupe. Its going threw a conversion to a brand new chevy 400 4 bolt main motor (475 horse, 450 pounds of torque). I am also going to be using a TH350 transmission with a b&m shift kit. and the rear is undicided yet I think im gonna fabricate the drive shaft to the stock rear and blow it out first then decide.

Update

I am using brand new OEM front springs on KYB AGX adjustable gas shocks. And 1.8" drop springs on the same shocks. OBX Camber Kit, Adjustable Traction Rods, Front and rear Anti-Sway Bars, Energy Suspension Full Busing kit, and a rear upper strut connector. After I pulled the Nissan Motor and Trans I removed all the stuff that was no longer needed. ECU, and 80% of the wires. I had to remove the AC for the room, then I had to cut out the stock battery tray, because I am mounting a battery box in the rear, while I was on the roll I removed all the other mounts and tabs sucks as for the fuel filter, radiator mounts, etc. I then had to think about the cross member, the original plan was to removed the stock cross-member, but after reviewing the frame blue prints I decided to leave it in. I did chop off the raised areas where the engine mounts where and grinded them all down. After that I had to really clean everything under the hood with de greaser. This is where I am at now, this weekend I will be banging in the firewall for the distributor, and I have to modify the transmission area some, I will also have the Transdapt universal transmission mount marked and cut to size, and the transmission Chevy small block engine cross member measured and marked also. Now I am not a welder so I am having a friend weld it for me after the are welded in place I am painting the engine comp with high temperature roll/spray on black bed liner. One this is done it’s a matter of replacing the fuel lines then 240sx has an in tank fuel pump which is going to be used. Fuel injection requires more PSI them a carb so that pump will feed a fuel filter on the firewall, and then a fuel pressure regulator on the wall after that it will be hooked up to the mechanical fuel pump on the motor, then up to the carb (one the motor is in) I’m not too far away from getting the motor in. After that I will have to fine tune the suspension, get my exhaust done 2.5 inch pipe into a 2.5 inch dual inlet flowmaster 50 series, and a single 3 inch outlet. I am not to far away from getting it running and operating. Then I have to fabricate a custom gauge pop using analog autometer gauges, make my cowl hood, hang the wide 50mm fender flares, full body kit, and I have Nissan Skyline R32 taillights. After that I will be painting it thee brownish / maroon from the new BMW's

Why don't you go with the ls series engines? I really think that an ls2 would be a much better engine for the application. If I remember correctly it's lighter, smaller, and has more aftermarket upgrades for it (ie cams).

Iam building something similar, have a 72 240Z lowered widebody fenders with a small block 400 pushin about the same HP, but I am runnin a T56 Corvette 6 speed. I have it torn apart now we are going threw the enitre body and pulling the rear fenders out 3" and from 1.5". It is gonna be sick when complete. We had the same trans, if you plan to drive on the street I would go with something diff, it you wanna stick with an auto I would rec a Stage 3 200R4 from www.bowtieoverdrives.com

This is a really weird application for this engine, I really would have gone with something different, or if I was gonna waste my money on a v8 I would buy like a 572 crate engine and drop it into whatever. This seems to be a waste of ones time, however the hinson supercars LS1 RX7 is really insane. There website has videos of it.

fo' reel...i dont know why a lot of people knock the 13B's. if u take the proper precautions and take care of your rotary and build it properly, its a damn monster. a lot of people replace there rotarys all the time because they dont take proper precautions.

Having owned a V8-powered 280z, I can say you will enjoy your car a lot. Anyhow, who cares if it's still a 240sx? That's the beauty of tuning. You can have the freedom of making it into your car. The S13 chassis is an excellent platform to put a V8 in. I would've tried for an LS1, but the old school power is great too. If you have the resources, I'd suggest modifying the tranny tunnel to get the motor as far behind the crossmember as reasonably possibly. It would be lovely combo of handling and power.

Inifniti? VK56DE was in the Titan and the Pathfinder Armada. Titanium valves and aluminum lifters = sex.
I believe that is what Chris Forsberg will be running in his 350 convertible this year for Formula D. And you're right it does = sex!

And someone above mentioned the ls2 or ls1 which would be a better choice for the car, becasue it is lighter weight and does have more aftermarket shit availible for it. Plus it will not throw the wieght issue off as much!

that is so damn stupid. first they swap a sr20det into the other 350z that forsberg was running and were all happy about how they saved 400lbs and how the sr performed better....and now they do some dumb shit like droppin a v8 into a convertible and drifting it.
