No, you dont need abs to add an LSD. Its just that ABS and LSD came packaged as an option from the dealer.

if you get a VLSD that was off a ABS equipped car, there will be a plug to the VLSD. Just either cut it or just tie it up and have it out of the way. It wouldnt make a difference
