Has anyone here converted their factory non-air conditioned car to A/C? I love driving my 240, but I need to install AC before summer starts or I'm going to sell the car.

If you have any tips reccomendations or links to a conversion it would help save my nissan from being sold.

How is your car factory non airconditioned? They all came with it, the person before u just removed it.
It simple. Go to the junk yard and get all teh lines, condensor, radiator dealy, and canister. Connect it
Hope the previous owner didnt remove the blower motor too

I though A/C is an option that comes on nearly everything, but is not a standard item. Thats how it is with most car manufacturers. Plus the A/C button on my car is non existent. There is a blank, solid "button" in its place, so my car clearly never had A/C.

Does anyone know if a non A/C car can be converted without replacing the heater/blower assembly, or will the evaporator bolt right in?

woa really? do you have an a/c pump? thats interesting! can i see a picture of your HVAC (heater/cold control thingy)

i seen a couple w/o AC, there is just a blank slot where the A/C button, kind of like the blank that has NISSAN on it. As for converting to A/C, dunno!
you will def. need the A/C condenser, compressor +brackets , lines, the thing for under the dash, HVAC A/C unit and all the misc bolts and what not. I am not sure if you will need to swap the engine bay harness/interior harness (There are A/C specific fuses and relays on both, I think), and you might possibly need the airbox setup for under the dash from an A/Ced car, not sure if they are the same. So... your best bet is the yunkyard for most of that stuff, and people parting out their cars would be good, too. You can probably get some of the engine bay stuff from people who are removing them or doing an SR swap for cheap. Good luck!

BTW, if you are located near NH, I would bet Rus @ JNRMotorsports would have almost everything you need.

was bored, found one on ebay:

No, I don't have the A/C compressor. I wouldn't be asking this if my car had came with air conditioning from the factory. That pic is exactly what my heater control looked like. The project sounds like a PITA. I'm not asian and it's not exactly easy for my to work under my dash being 6'1" and all...

Here's the list of what I need so far:
Compressor + bracket
belt
pressure and return A/C lines
Condensor + bracket
Evaporator + (heater/evap box from A/C car?)
A/C HVAC
possible switch and relay for the A/C pump clutch, I hate cars that turn off the A/C when you go full throttle.

Let me know if anyone has actually done this, I know more cars that get the A/C stripped than added however.

Hey man, I'm 6'2" and not asian either, and I don't have any problems getting under the dash and working. Its the getting out parts that a bitch :rotflmao. But seriously, you will need to remove the entire dash, metal bar thing, most likely the wiring harness that goes across, and then the air boxes/blower motor. So you get deeper and deeper it gets easier to work with, and removing the seats will give you tons of room to work. Taking it all apart should only take like a day or two.

its gonna be a pain but its worth it to keep your 240 man. i mean i guess living in cali there is no shortage of clean ones out there but still, dont go sellin your car just 'cause you need to do a bunch of shit on it you dont want to haha. if i did that every time that situation came up with my car i'd have sold it a bunch of times by now.

you're going to actually need the dash out honestly to make things easy on yourself then you're going to need to pull the radiator to put the condensor in front of it where its supposed to be along withall the lines and such. its not gonna be fun but its worth it if thats the only reason you're wanting to sell your car.

if you had posted this thread a week ago, i couildve sold you ALL my a/c parts that i JUST removed. shit man, that sucks. but probably just any junked 240 should have msot of the parts you need. I DO still have the a/c condensor, whatever the hell its called in front of the radiator. Problem is, my leg is broke, so i cant really work on my car. if your interested, let me know and ill see if i can get a buddy to take it out.
