I see tons of the threads where there is someone saying "VG30dett swap in my 240" and most of them are dream threads that just trail off n all that is left are people commenting "updates?" "anything new"... Has anyone on here actually completed the VG30DETT? One thread showed a pic of it in the car and kept all the acc and kept turbos in stock location. There is a site that i found sells the mount kit with a driveshaft so mounting in the car isnt the qestion, but the turbo location is... can anyone point me in the path of someone who has finished this swap or sites that give info on this swap. im wanting to go out of the norm on engine swapping my 240. an SR is too common, I hate my KA24DE, RBs are expected, VQ is too much hassle with NATS and all of that, and JZ engine im saving for my SC300. I dont want V8 bc i still want a import sound and i want twin turbos. Please dont flame me or ask me "why VG?" its just a swap i am interested in and would like giving a shot at it.

Yes and it's horrible.
No room to change anything on the side of the motor.
Brake and clutch master cylinders needed to be moved under the dash due to lack of engine bay room.
Not a worthwhile swap IMO.

Sounds like it is the same as when its in the Z32 chassis. Those engines suck to work on all around. The intake manifold traps all the injector wiring and vacuum hoses in a heat capsule, so when you remove anything EVERYTHING is brittle and breaks.

The VG can make great power, don't get me wrong. But such a headache to work on, S-Chassis or Z-chassis.

VQ is too much hassle???!?! Maybe compared to a SR swap. I would love to have a road race VQ35 setup in a S13.... Drifting on the other hand, I'll stick with the v8s.

hmmm. the master cyl is a new issue i hadnt heard of yet. damn. i thought the only clearance issues were with the steering rod and the turbos. if vq didnt have the ecu nats problem or have to go standalone it would be ideal for what i am looking for. im trying to get away from the inline motors of the upper liters (rb25/JZ) and want out of the 4 cyl. I am really against V8 bc just how pricey they are. ls series engines even goin the cheap truck iron block way is still up near the 5k mark and that just to get it in the car. a 1UZ swap doesnt sound too bad now that i know there is a adapter plate to use the factory ka24de transmission. i was just hoping that since 2010 (the latest posting ive found of a vg swap) someone has found a simple and cheap way to get the VG30dett in and driving. but i geuss not.

I believe they make PnP VQ Harnesses now. You just gotta get the Standalone. It's expensive yes but your motor will be that much better out of the box and you won't need to worry about saving up for the standalone when you want big power because it's already there..

im pretty sure wiring specialties makes a PnP harness. its just the standalone ecu... 1/3 of the cost of the swap would be in the ecu. if it was a long drawn out build id concider doing the VQ but im looking at doing something in the lines of 1-2 month swap, and on a budget

There are several vids on youtube of this swap finnished and running/drifting. My brother is about to do a vg30de n/a swap in a s13. And I am about to do a vg30et swap out of a z31.
