Auto to stick

how do you go about going from an automatic to a stick. I'm planning on doing an engine swap so i'm hoping that solves some of the issues. Is it just as simple as swaping the tranmission when i do the engine swap, or is there more to it then that. It is going to be in a 1992 if that makes any difference.
thanks

even if you swap out the engine, you'll still need tons of stuff..
-Clutch pedal + bracket
-Brake Pedal (not needed, you can cut your automatic one)
-Clutch Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder + the rubber line and hardline w/ fittings
-5spd. driveshaft (abs, non-abs.. see which one you need)
-Clutch, PP, throwout bearing, pilot bushing (even if you are getting all this, it's still a good idea to change the clutch for a new one)
-Shifter
-Shifter boot and trim, lower rubber boot and metal bracket for the rubber boot
-5spd. ECU

I think that's all.. hopefully I didn't miss anything important :)

i knew that you would need all of the shifters and updated ecu and all that good stuff. i probably should have said that
but why would you need to change the brake pedal

and is there a difference between an automatic engine and a manual engine. the engine itself, or is it just the drive train and such like that

sorry for sounding so dumb
it is the same engine. the break pedal is larger in an automatic, go look!, there is also some wireing issues. I've been visiting this forum for a while, and there isw tons of stuff on this, just hit the search button.

This thread just keeps coming up and there is about 50 of the same threads and some stikies about this. dont mean to sound harsh nor rude, but SEARCH!!
and one more thing, please dont call it stick, call it standard shift or manual shift, my girlfriend calls it stick just because you move a "stick" to shift and it drives me crazy
you actually don't need the 5spd. ECU. the automatic ECU works fine. heres a link to a thread that will help a lot with the conversion. http://240sxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71588

you are right.. you don't need the 5 spd. ecu.. I tried my AUTO one and it worked just fine. However, there' is a slight idling problem with the S14 AUTO ecu in a 5spd. car. It can stall the car when you first start it up when the car is cold. Just rev it a bit, and the idling should stabilize. The 5spd. ECU doesn't do that. It goes into "warm-up" mode right away and slowly reduces the RPM until the coolant gets to a nominal temperature.

However the advantage of the AUTO ecu is that it doesn't a have a speed cut like the 5spd. ecu, but it does have a rev limiter (unlike the S13 AUTO ecu, which doesn't have either one).
