okay i keep fucking with this and i can't figure it out. My transmission will always shift at about 3 grand. i put it in 1st gear and it will only shift into 2nd. and when i give it in 2nd my transmission cuts out and redlines my motor until i put it back into drive. there was a weight that fell off my motor that was a lil before the driveshaft. but that shouldn't do anything. i re-spliced all my tranny wiring. could a sensor be off or my ecu fucked up. I need help, so if you have any helpful info please let me know! thank you!

what do you mean by "put it in 1st gear"?
the transmission always shifts at 3K no matter how much throttle input you give?
the more throttle you give, the later it should shift.

"and when i give it in 2nd my transmission cuts out and redlines my motor until i put it back into drive."
i dont understand this, the transmission should not come out of drive. and when you say you "give it" that means you're hitting the gas?

sorry for being misleading... yes i can full throttle it and it always shift at 3k. and like every auto transmission you can manually put it in 1st gear and 2nd gear.. (1st,2nd,drive,neutral,reverse,park) i put my shifter in first and it goes to 2nd gear?? but i can put it in drive and it starts in first. also by my transmission cutting out, it goes to a certin rpm and stops like it was put in neutral (i wanna say around 4500rpms)

Ok, 1 and 2 does not mean first and second gear man. It just a number representing a different gear ratio i believe, similar to putting your car in overdrive ( i may be mis informed on what it actually is, but i know its NOT first/second gear).

Now, as for your problem, are you saying that you shifter actually MOVES ON ITS OWN? You need to clarify, and please try to make you sentences more coherent, your confusing the hell outta everybody...

Had a similar problem with a newly purchased car. I found bottles of three different types of fluid in the car. I changed the fluid to the dex3 and what do you know it goes forward like a dream just does not want to go backwards. When i put it into reverse there is no noise no change in engine sound like its even trying to go into reverse. Just wondering if there are any solutions that might be out there. Oh yeah added lucas trans additive also. Just need to know if it needs a full rebuild or if there might be a sensor or something along those lines to look for.

:fonix: uhh why wouldn't there be a First and 2nd gear... its a 4 speed tranny. 4 forward gears one reverse, nuetral, and park. now over drive just manages the computer in the first 2 gears to give you more gas while having your 2nd gear max out at around 70mph. Same thing happens when locked in 2 (or 2nd gear.. you have 1st and 2nd gear to drive in) cept its not as powerful as with overdrive off (for our cars). and 1st gear.. well that's just 1st gear. theres not a whole nother set of gears for overdrive. you need your tranny rebuilt.. its broke. but you can try flushin the fluid and using new stuff.

ok youre both kinda right the o.d. button doesnt change anything but, fourth gear aka overdrive and when its off you got a 3 speed tranny thats it that is the function of the overdrive switch and as for your trans i would say go pull the codes not from the ecu but from the trans computer i seem to have lost the name of the site but search the web a little and all will be good but you will most likely find it will be easiest and most fun to put a 5 speed in good luck
