yep

ive always wondered, why is there a difference between the ABS and non ABS driveshafts? its a completely different part of the drivetrain...

I beleive ABS driveshafts are longer

I know that one is longer than the other, but why? why cant both be the same size? ABS has nothing to do with the driveshafts/diff... thats what is confusing me. when i slam on the brakes, for example, my wheels try to lock up, not the driveshaft/diff. its completely separate..

*bangs head against wall*

OK i did a little googling, and i think i understand.

ABS needs to know how fast the rear wheels are turning, and thus the ABS ring/sensor in the DIFF, right?

Yes to prevent from lock-up above 15 or 20mph. Anything under that and the ABS is disengaged and will allow wheel lock up.

Smart people on this forum i swear. I can just read your post and become smart haha
You should see the places we find all this info, put the rest of us to shame i swear. But at least we seem to be doing a good job of gathering a lot of that info here into one spot.

I've read some of these links you guys learn from. WOW. Lose me so quick. So i just read summaries from you :)

im trying to decide if I should try and track down an engine lift before my engine arrives or if I should just call up a few of muscular friends.

anyone had any first hand experience with picking sr's up? shouldnt be too bad eh? Its more the fact that all my friends have jacked up trucks so its going to be a pain in the ass lifting it out of the box and into the garage

When I just got my sr, I had three guys and I lifting it up to a jack stand as I didn't have a lift at that time. Probably will be different for you, none of us were muscular...lol. It is SO much easier, and safer to use one though(we almost dropped it a couple of times...lol). Also, you'll need it to drop it in your s14.

yah well im doing my swap 2 hours away at a buddys place, and he has one there.

My work has a lift, but its like 5x the size of a regular one.. it could probably lift my car lol. If I had to I coudl probably steal it, as long as it fits in the back of a truck

so my clutch assembly, master cylinder, and clutch line came in today, but I wasnt home when UPS came, so another day I guess.

on another note, my car started making a chirping sound just a bit ago when its under no load. As soon as I put my foot on the gas it goes away. Im thinking one of the belts?

anyways once I get to work tonight ill take a closer look.

Yeah, check your belts. Maybe time to change them unless you can hold off by tightening them till the SR goes in.
