Here is a great article where people tested various radiators and fan setups to get the best results temp wise and much more.

Check it out....

http://home.satx.rr.com/nissanweb/RadTest/RadTest.htm

"It has been widely accepted within the 240SX enthusiast community that the SR20DET engine has a tendency to overheat. As a result of this, numerous companies have made various products available to aid in increasing the cooling capacity of the SR20DET and thus decreasing the tendency for the engine to run hotter than desired. However, with the introduction of a number of these components, there has been no substantial testing to quantify their effectiveness, nor has there been any sort of testing to rank the products in terms of performance superiority...."

Test subjects;
Radiators: 1.) Stock SR20DET radiator

2.) Koyo Copper and Brass

3.) Koyo Aluminum

4.) C&R Single Pass

5.) C&R Double Pass

Fans:
1.) Stock SR20DET Mechanical

2.) Permacool (Single fan with no shroud)

3.) Flex A Lite 220 (Double fan with integrated shroud)

4.) 95 Nissan Altima (Double fan with integrated shroud)

5.) SPAL 13” Low Profile (Single fan with no shroud)

6.) SPAL 13” Medium Profile (Single fan with no shroud)

7.) SPAL 16” Medium Profile (Single fan with no shroud)

8.) SPAL 16” High Profile (Single fan with no shroud)

Much thanks to those who did this testing!

stock rad and taurus fan with shroud. sr rad would be nice cause it has the right inlet and outlet but what can ya do.

never overheated and the entire setup cost 30 for the fan, i used some nissan relays in the fuse box that used to be for my ac and i had some wire lying around.

expensive fans are exactly that....expensive

my recomendations (what im doing with my car, or what is already done actually)

koyo aluminum racing raditor
stock fan clutch for daily driving reliablitly with a good non cracked shroud (sohc one might work sohc shroud works for ca, but that becvause they use same rad so im not sure for your situation)
then dual electric generic fans wired to a switch, on the engine side of the radiaotr put them there and wire them to puller so they pull air through, then jsut flip the switch during hard driving or at the track etc.

also, with electric fans they are usually 100% on wich is over lill on the freeway, and also you might run a litle cold on the street leading to worse gas mileage than if you were fully warmeds up to about 190 or 180 degrees f.

thats my recomendtation i have read alot of pros and cons so i am using both, also, if oyu want uber cooling stay with the smic , your rad will ove you forever... and a custom rad cooing anel or buy one that helps too, also you can lift the back of your hood a little bit, and remove that padding stuff from under your hood, and remove that vinyl waether strip at the to of your firewall, then a new oem thermostat and new oem water pump you will never overheat unless warped heat or headgasket lol wich isnt my fualt.
wwow that was along answer for a simple quesiton

i dont track my car or run over 280 hp...so my setup works well for regularish driving...just to clarify

yeah sd your setup is pretty well thought out. when im on the highway i dont switch my fan on. only around town its on. with the stock rad and an fmic it doesnt run cold...thats what thermostats are for.

i considered leaving the stock fan on the engine but it was always in the way so i yanked it. plus the taraus fan comes with a nice shroud

long story short i also tend to agree with sd touge on his setup..$$

ill buy a rad when i have a problem
