I'm assuming you have a SOHC? Just take the cap and rotor in the part store and they'll hook you up. If you do it in the parking lot here's the firing order so your not stranded.

Firing order 1-3-4-2

Distributor

4-3
2-1
.............what??!
What part store doesn't ask your make/model? The only brands you should be hearing are which distributor you're interested in. Go to a different autozone man.
yeah its a SOHC..i guess i can go in and take the cap and rotor to napa but if i cant how would i find out what it was
You tell them what make/model/year you have, they give you the right part.
Boostin: you got me confused. KA's were offered with 2 different distributors and alternators both from either Mitsubishi or Hitachi.

Exactly. It makes it much easier to just match them side by side.
So 240kid would you know how i can tell which one i have
To be honest I couldn't tell you off the top of my head because I've never had to replace a KA Dist. I haven't checked the FSM yet but I'm sure it might tell you where to find the part number or some indication.
and no. parts stores cant name every part on your car and what brand you need. hence the reason some parts are hard to find. take your cap/rotor in and let them match it at the counter.
I know it bounced back and forth between 95 and 96... something I encountered when my original 95 dist went out, and found out that the new cap and rotor for the 95 dist wouldn't work for the distributor i was using out of a 96 motor.

One made by hitachi and one by mitsubishi. Best way was for me to open it up and look at the markings of who made it. I don't recall which was which. And would not be surprised if they were sourcing both at the same time for some production years.
