Dodge Neon srt-4, DAMN!

Well guys and girls here is the story: I spot a brand new srt-4 neon with a huge intercooler and nice wheels going down the road so i decide to have some fun. I pull up beside him going about 45 and he starts revvvvving up. All i can hears a a BOV that puts birds and screaming girls to shame. I think to myself "well it sounds good, lets see if it can run with my sr20det with full 3inch exhaust from the turbo (XS downpipe/cat and Uras cat-back) and an Apexi intake (not much but gets the job done, sort of). So me and the guy make some pulls on each-other to start a race. We slow down to 30-35 ish (speedo doesnt work) and i run through second and as i get to redline (or so i think, no tac), he takes off like a bat out of hell :eek: . That car was so fast it made me feel like a little boy trying to hook up with a 34 year old MILF, way out of my league. WTF does dodge put in those things? (ps Dont tell me i already know). Has anyone else had and other troubles with those damn domestics???????

Yeah, those cars are monsters ... 2.4L turbocharged 4 banger ... just imagine a KA24DET in FWD trim on high boost and you have an SRT-4.

He probably had the Turbo XS RFL (Real Fucking Loud) BOV ... I know one of the SRT guys I know has that and so does a friend on his 2g Eclipse GS-T. This thing is LOUD on the SRT. Little quieter on the GST, but the SRT makes this thing go off like crazy.

He most have some work done to it. Couse my syster has one and my brother drove it and of the hole i killd him. Down shifting about 2 to 3cars !

And thats with my cousins stock sr20det red top.

Oh yeah, those things are born quick but don't get much faster. I remember reading about one that had everything internal and external modified and upgraded on the motor, but yet it only ran high 11's on drag radials. Yes high 11s are still pretty quick...but not that quick for the amount of work done to it.
It takes some work to show some real signs of improvement. Aren't those things running 11psi of boost or something crazy like that straight from the factory?

they are slow skittles... Turn your boost up and you should be killing the stock ones and having some fun with the mild ones.

35 MPH is right in there power band. They keep up with my EVO if we go from a 35MPH roll. If you want him to look bad take him from a dig.....you should beat him alot easier that way.

did you just say "11 psi or something crazy like that?" i can remember a time when 11psi was anywhere near crazy.....

i have a couple buddies that own srt-4's, they're pretty quick if its got stage 2 w/ toys...i know with the dial-a-boost all the way up they're running a good 20lbs thru 3rd ... they should be blowing up soon, my one buddy blew a hole big enough to fit an infant in his tranny...clutch everywhere, cracked his intake manifold inhalf and im guessing he got some metal in his engine cuz the whole thing was shot....i couldnt believe it when i saw it definately unreal...

those cars are one of the reasons why i bought a 240 n sr swapped it...other than the fact that i love the 240 of course lol

they're fast straight line cars...my friend has one that is stock save an intercooler and BOV and it boosts at 18 psi....another friend of mine has one with the stage 2 kit and a few little things and he puts down 13.4 in the 1/4 mile and traps between 104 and 110....

Biggest hint for running one: unless its an '05, it has an open differential. they spin like a bitch off the line and thru second

my friend has a stage 1 pcm, injectors, k&n intake, mbc@18psi and made 263whp/291wtq with an a/f ratio of 10:1 we're tuning it thursday going for 300whp and probably 20 psi

wrong 03 is the only open differential year. we've got 3 in our local club. 1 03 and 2 04's and they both have lsd.

I've seen a couple put down 500whp with stock internals. I think the weak point on those bottom ends are the rods. Fast cars. And uno is right, 04 is the year they put lsd's in.

i like neons alittle bit...they can be fast...and when they are...its a total sleeper. cuz you wouldnt think a neon is fast cuz yea...its a neon haha...


btw...its LAMBORGHINI :p

SRT-4's = No traction(depends) my friend kevin has one the car is fast like no joke the stock boost is supposed to be limited to 12psi <(i think) we got it to run 18psi STOCK!!!! cars has balls and now my other friend terry is getting one and then my friends dad has one thats running like 600hp converted to AWD this car is fucking nuts!

04 on up got the limited slip quafe diff in them
