If you are enjoying your 240 while drifting, powersliding, whatever-the-hell-else-people-call-it, why would you give a shit if some person in your computer says your not conforming to thier standard of what is cool to do in your car?

That said, who here actually would consider themselves expert/experienced "drifters"? And who here could give a shit less about drifting and what anybody else has to say about it?

Does anyone actually go drifting anyway? When I used to live in Hawaii I saw a lot of drifting and I went for a ride in some kid's turbo 240. And I met one Japanese kid at USF who brought his S13 from Japan and I believe he actually went drifting. But, other than that I don't think I've met or seen anyone who actually went drifting a lot/knew how to drift/could really call themselves drifters. I've only met kids who read about it in super street but can barely drive a stick and think they're cool. I would like to know how many people here actually drift. I've never done it. I've stuck the tail out a few times in my old 300 but I don't think that qualifies.

I don't know. I've "drifted" as some of us can say. I can't really drift if there is a "offical" definition of it. I've gone through a corner sideways.....

k i dont wanna be the guy who says "i can drift" then have everyone say "YOU ARE A FUCKING LIAR" so you know what ill leave it at this... i am japanese, have cousins in japan who drift, own a 89 240sx with sr20, and have lived with my cousins for a subsantial amount of time. Can you guess what i did there, and still do?

LoL. In Japan they have wannabe drifters. The REAL drifters are all down southern USA.

But... I've argued that point before and like 1 person understood. *shrug* I guess it isn't cool since it isn't JDM yo.
HOLY SHIT. are you retarded? NO seriously are you retarded?japan has only wannabe drifters. you are by far the stupidest person i have every met. judging by this forum the "USA" has wannabe drifters. i apologize for arguing with a retard but japan IS WHERE THE TRUE DRIFTERS ARE

It doesn't matter where your from. JDM drivers are better, no USA drivers are better. You sound like a bunch of kids. Not to piss anyone off or anything. I agree, there are a bunch of wanna-be drifters everywhere. But the people who go unnoticed usually are the real deal. I'm not a "drifter" by deffinition, I've gotten cars sideways, some on purpose, some not.. The only thing I can say I've drifted is a golf cart. It doesn't matter where your from to be good at drifting. It just so happens that drifting culture came from japan. But that doesnt mean all JDM drivers are experts. Drifting in america has been around since my dad's gen. That doen't mean American drivers are experts either.

It's experiance.

But what does a newbie know anyway? :help:

EDIT: Sorry, I'm not quite sober at the moment.

LMFAO

Please.... if Japan is the shizzit diggity place where all the "real drifters are" then why was it virtually pioneered as a sport in itself in the USA. More specifically, Outlaw Sprinters, East Coast Modifieds, midgets, bla bla bla. Even early stock car racing had cars drifting at high speeds all day. The USA has multiple specialized forms of racing virtually dedicated to driving sideways, yet somehow you'd just like to assume that Japanese drivers are better at it just because it's trendy there now whereas it was trendy in the USA oh, say, a couple decades ago?? Damn, I'm not even saying who's better at what, just pointing out who the leaders were and who the followers are. As for the better drivers, aren't they all in Europe anyways??

Don't even get me started on the whole "drifting as a culture" crap. Try and grow a brain and realize there's a world outside of Japan. Judging by every option video Japan has only ricers.

DSC was being sarcastic, but wait... you still gotta grow that brain buddy. Learn how to use an edit button instead of post whoring next time too.

Edit: This is what I hate about idiots:
a: They can't take a joke
b: They take offense to everything
c: They feel the need to turn the argument into a racial one
d: They can't accept something called a "new idea"

Haha, where can I buy one of these JDM drivers?

JDM doesn't mean Japanese, and it's never been about JDM, it's about JAM...

Im with carbon, japanese drift better american drift better why dont you seriously all STFU. Nationality has nothing to do with it cough cough stereotype cough cough. Seriously you guys do sound like a bunch of little kids fighting over candy or some lame shi* like that, remember....we are all human beings before we are race or sex. Who the hell cares...so what, im white? that means i cant drift? u guys need to STFU and realize its about the driver, not the race of the person. Im italian, so whats that make me? All im saying is that you cant say because someone is a certain race, they are better or worse @ something. How do you think the holocaust started?

The point is not race but where they come from. They are saying its "bigger" in japan than in the USA. It's older in japan and they have better roads or whatever so they are better at drifting.
QwIKjAp, seems to be the only one bringing actual race into this (refering to his 2nd post in this thread).

Well my point is that it's bigger in the USA and older in the USA. Not the culture, the actual driving sideways as a form of racing/ entertainment. This isn't so subjective of a point.

Just because you guys don't appreciate a form of racing (namely oval track racing) doesn't mean it's any less than its equivolent elsewhere.

i feel you tnord,
on darwin taking care of people who drift on the streets. P.S. im italian and i have definitly drifted before, although i dont consider myself a "drifter"

k. listen. in japan they do have open tracks and events but most drifters just use those for practice. a looooooooooooooot get INITIAL D and like to drift mountains or open streets. just because you dont see events and constant hick racing on tv in japan doesnt mean that USA has been doing it longer. ill admit ive seen stock cars get sideways but rare and if they did its not full tilt going sidways. in japan mountains are the tracks not the oval. plain and simple. and aceinhole.....oval is boring verrrrrrrrrrrrrry boring id much rather watch snails mate

ok Ace i see what you're saying about the "drifting" starting here in the US with outlaw sprinters and what not, but calling all the Japanese drivers in Option ricers? i mean seriously, drifting in Japan is pretty much all about having a good time, and yeah some of the drivers out there clown around alot, but i still feel that they deserve at least a little respect for their driving/tuning abilities. i mean these drivers are doing things on pavement that have mostly been done on dirt in the past, and some of them are pretty damn good at it. and shit, just because they didnt invent the sport makes em all posers? that's not right haha. motorsports should be open to whoever wants to try it out without being called a poser. i mean, its not like they just stand around by there cars hanging out and talking all kinds of shit with their bling bling rims and mad tyte interiors. these guys are dedicating their whole lives to motorsports! i mean alot them actually live to drift! and to me, that doesnt make someone a poser, that makes them the real deal. and i wouldnt say its "trendy" in Japan to drift, since it's been going on there for quite some time. it has become a part of Japanese motorsports culture. so yeah, i just basically think that the Japanese drift scene deserves a little more respect than what some of you guys give it. i really dont see why some of you have so much hatred toward drifting.

...oh, and please don't take this as me agreeing with the guy who was saying something about all the Japanese drivers being better than the American drivers, because i realize it has absolutely nothing to do with nationality. it about raw talent, lots of practice, and experience. ;) many of the best drivers in history IMO have come from Brazil though. *cough*senna*cough*
