hi. just recently i was told by my mechanic that the 3rd cylinder wont compress anymore. he doesnt believe it is worth rebuilding. personally im not sure (and i dont know enough about my 240 to know otherwise), i think i may take it to someone else to get their opinion. but if that is indeed the problem, is it almost a guarantee i need to get a new/rebuilt engine? or does it depend on how bad it is? (id rather not waste money on someone doing compressions tests, etc.)
the car still starts and i can drive it, although im only using it for emergency situations now just to not make it worse. i see engine rebuild kits on ebay for like 600-700 dollars. problem with rebuilds is they take a good amount of time, and the only mechanic who i can get good labor prices from wont do it.
so im thinking about just buying a rebuilt one somewhere online. i was wondering if any of you have good websites to use or advice. a lot of the sites i keep finding want to ask for your name/email/phone # just to give you a quote on an engine, kinda annoying.
this site seems to be the only one i can find where they are rebuilt and list a price without asking for any personal info. wondering if this is even a good price or if there is cheaper out there. Purchase Your Engine From 123Engine.com
any help is appreciated. btw, my car is an automatic and i want to keep it that way.
