OK, I'm about stupid. I'm no electrician, but i decided one day to install some light effects under the dash... Well, I spliced them into my interior light wires at the shifter... Shortly thereafter, I find that my gauges, shifter, and LEDs no longer work. Checked fuses and splices. nothing. I need some answers. I have to use an ugly cigarette lighter led thing to see my gauges at night.

I can't remember what its called I just referred to it as the main relay. If you've ever taken out your ECU its the same basic steps to get to it as you took to get to the ECU only on the drivers side this time. When I took mine out we just used some solder and a soldering iron to reattach the burnt out parts and my dash lights are still good 2 years later.

Ok so I got my cars mixed up between mine and my boyfriends. We didn't solder my main relay we just bought another one but its still going strong. He also said your TCU is for your transmission and wouldn't be causing your lighting issue.

actually the TCU has NOTHING to do with the transmission. The TCU is a timing control unit. It is a small white box that is located to the left of your fuses that are under the driver side dash.

If you take it off and unscrew it, you will see a Printed Circuit Board with a lot of mounted components. The side with fewer mounted components that looks like it has green paths running around will most likely have one of those traces burned out. You can tell if its is black.

might wanna tell your boy to read up.
