Ok, my Zenki's been sitting in my driveway for a few months now and I haven't done any modifications but I have about $500 USD to do something with. Any suggestions?

injen cold air intake

Save it all. Save for an SR swap. It is one of the best mods you can do really.
That was one of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard.

I agree with the majority of the posts in this thread. Apply basic repairs/tune-ups(spark plugs, ignition wires, o2 sensor, fuel filter, belts, etc) then proceed from there. With the engine still plagued with the "crap," expecting major performance changes from bolt-ons will be like wishing you can fly without wings. Essentials always come first.

what i plan to do when i get a grand more is get an injen cold air intake ($200) and it will give you 7 hp more. Then I'm going to get a APEX dual n1 exhaust catback system ($600). If anyone can find me a cheaper place to buy a apex dual n1 exhaust system, please tell me. Also if you get this intake+exhaust combination, how much hp/torque increase will this give my car????

Hey intake and exhaust sound great, but you should really get a tune up like that one guy said. With the money you have left over you should worry about the suspension, i think thats the most important thing.

gawd dayum...airfreshners? how much does your junk cost? lol

LMFAO... They are JDM, y0! Imported from the Land of the Rising Sun...

I also say you should start with routine maintenance... It really depends on what YOU want out of your car... Anyway, whatever you decide to do, good luck... :)

How was it ignorant? He asked for opinions for a mod, not repairs. I agree with others that tune-up/repair parts should come before mods. When having ownership of a used car for a few months, a tune-up should've already been done.

It all boils down to what you want out of the car. If you are planning on keeping the ka24, then I would suggest a tune-up/repair. If you are planning on a swap of some sort, then save for it. If your engine is running low-mid miles and still has a long way to go before it takes a crap, spend that money on some suspension components. This is the way I would handle the situation you are in. My .02

All in all, you do what you feel what your car is in need of, since you are the one most familiar with the car and what it needs.

-Sorry agamemnon, it just seems like you believe that the SR is God's gift for performance. Nothing against you, just the post. ;)

True, true. Nothing wrong with keeping the KA, but I'm going for the SR20. Whatever you run though, after you get everything squared away you might want to look into a port and polish job specific to the performance level you're looking to get out of your engine. Getting the right set up here will do wonders for your engine. :thumbsup

Hmmm... For only 70-80 dollars you can buy a bushing set from Energy Suspension. One of the best mods I did for my Zenki. It's not easy but it's not hard. Just the right amount of time spent with your girl. Besides... your going to have to replace your bushings eventually anyways. It's a mod plus its maintenance wrapped into one.
