Front Mount Q:

I can find a kit specific for the rb swap that is within what im wiling to spend. It seems like alot of people are running ebay intercoolers with no problems. So I was thinking, why not get a cheap $220 SR front mount kit, cut the cold pipe down and getting another pipe to connect it all?

That way I would have spent about 250 bucks instead of 500+ for the same thing that looks just as good.

Or should I stick with the sidemount since I have it already and spend my money elsewhere?

Find me an rb intercooler for under 500 bucks on there.

Bah. Just get a SR20 ebay kit and call it a day. Because of my intake mani it was a direct fit!!! Only had to cut it. Heres a couple pics.

Notice those were both atleast 450 bucks. I'm looking to spend under 300.

Also, I'm running the stock intake manifold that runs across the motor.

His is a custom made, similar to a ca/sr/rb26 intake. It doesn't run across the top of the motor. RB20/RB25 have one that runs along the valve cover sideways.

Well I found a kit that was pretty cheap. I'm hoping it will work for me.

Yeah yeah, its a turbosx/ssac inercooler, but for how much it cost, it was worth it to have the piping already done.

180$ shipped.

I'll have to look at it. On my sidemount piping, there was a blitz bov on it, I'm not sure if the piping includes the elbow my blitz is on. I'd like to keep it.

Cool. I was weary of buying a cheap intercooler, but since alot of people run them with no problem, I think its going to be alright.

Yea my intake is custom and paid just about $900 with everything I needed. As for the intercooler + piping. Well... It gets the job done but I dont like having 6 couplers so Im going to do a 1 piece intercooler piping maybe this year or in the fall.

Well it works, but if you bump up the boost, im sure boost leaks will be more common. I'm glad that kit only has 4. 2 located on the tanks, 1 on the intake, and 1 connecting to the cold pipe.

his is a custom 1-off piece from what i'm reading in this thread. you can get something similar to that through from a company called R.I.P.S. in New Zealand. check em out: http://www.ripsltd.com/ not cheap by any means but they are definitely experts when it comes to rb motors. oh and dont forget to convert their prices from new zealand $ to american

Yea mine is a one piece and the quality is amazing although I should of done my first plan. Use RB26 intake mani. For my next build I'll probably do that since I love the OEM look. Yummy!

No since each RB motor has their own intake flange. Same part is rb20/25 exhaust though. I believe you need to cut off the runners and weld on the rb20 runners. As for iacv i have no clue lol.

i believe theres some pretty heavy modification involved but it has been done. theres a thread with some pictures on like the second page of the rb section. just look for "custom rb25 coil cover" or something like that. there are some pictures in there of a guys rb20 with a modified coil cover (has vents cut in it to dissipate heat) and you'll see the 26 mani. I'm sure you could pm that guy to see what all he had to do, he seems pretty nice. He's actually gonna modify my coil cover for me

ok thanks. im doin sidemount as well for the person who started this thread and im gonna hold out on doin the front mount, if that helps at all but if you wanna go front mount go to nengunperformance.com, they have a greddy spec m made for the rb20 there for around 320 so thats a great deal as compared to the 450 u see those things goin on ebay for. just my little bit of input and thanks for the help with the intake mani, i will definitely go check that out

It all depends on your front mount. If you have a piece in the middle use that and hook it up to your front latch. If you dont like mine then look up at my pic and see what I did. Just bend it and put it in place. As for the bottom find 2 bolts and use them as a place to bolt them up to. Not that hard but creative you must be haha.

I got my intercooler and its very nice quality, nicely finished pipes and silicone couplers and good clamps. It came with all the hardware, 4 couplers, intercooler, piping, vacuum line w/tee, and brackets.

Does anyone know why they included a vaccum line about 2 ft long and a tee? Is that for a bov, thats the only thing i can think of.
