the only issue would be squeezing it under the bonnet, and protecting the engine from water if you use a bonnet scoop
you mean vmount? or topmount?

not always true.

my friend's all trac has a stock air to water top mount and people with the air to air pay good money for it, its a solid TMIC.
^ thats because its a AIR to WATER, you didnt state what kind of IC you're planning to use, air to water then i say go top-mount, but air to air, FMIC is probably the best solution for your cooling needs, i know a lotta MR2 owners do that air to water ic of the All-trac
if you get the right core a SMIC is a good budget setup.

but thats my personal opinion.
i just think its dumb having a intercooler over the hottest part of the car right over the engine water to air you can rig up anywhere on the intake most are like a 4 inch thick pipe by like 4 or 5 inchs long and you got a lil tank and pump
the top mount on my wrx got incredibly heat soaked.. the last time I did a track day with it, I put a bag of ice on it and it melted through in just a couple minutes..

take a video of that next time.
The GTiR top mount was nicknamed the "Interwarmer"

I had a corolla with a 4agze swap that had a top mount. It got heat soaked pretty quick and lost heaps of power.

But if you design your air ducting properly a top mount will be fine for a small turbo engine - especially if you have no room for a frontmount like in a little datsun.

An alternative to a topmount would be a custom made long, thin-height intercooler that sits behind the grille in between the headlights of the 620.

yeah especially on low boost.

but with intercoolers for every 10 degrees cooled its an increase of 1% in power gains, proven fact.
im more concerned about the prevention of pinging and the ability to kill as many insects as possible in the shortest amount of time...
