Okay i have been trying to get a definative answer for awhile and i have searched but yet no real answers. I have a Rb25det being put into my 98 240sx right now and i really want to know what kind of 1/4 mile times i will be seeing. I have a few mods that should push the hp to near 300hp. Also what have yall heard about the stock turbo's boost limit psi please i hate trying to convert the bar. 1 more thing how much will the stock internals hold till? 450?
Oh i have had 3-4 people tell me high 12s with the swap. I have drag radials so traction shouldnt be an issue.

Thanks For your replies (in advance)

you should hit mid 13s...the internals will hold 450 but not for long...dont run boost over 14psi unless you have another turbo laying around....there are conversion tables around here somewhere for bar to psi....1 bar is 14.7 psi i think that is about it

hmm 450 but not for long? ive heard the rb25's internals are good for 500-600hp ... i would like to hear from some people with rb25's that are pushing 450+ ...

i also have a video of a skyline gts-t with the bpu and Garret GT30R turbo pushing 408 rwhp... thats about what 450+ at the flywheel huh? if an sr can handle close that on stock internals then i don't believe an rb can't out do it by far

That's still only 290 at the crank...assuming the motor is in perfect condition. That will give you around 230-240 or so at the wheels...i give it mid to low 13's if you can drive it.

my car should be pushing about 340-350 so i would say 310 to the wheels and there is no way this thing should hit 13s i will kill myself if it does.. spending the money i spent it better hope it doesnt hit 13s. i will sell the car the next day and buy a MUSTANG lol just to piss her off..... i hope my car can hear me lol

13's are an appropriate and attanable 1/4 mile. I mean come on youve heard of one or two guys getting lucky and every thing works out into the 12's doesnt mean it can be expected every time. 250 is nice but it aint that nice. And dont say with slicks, cause then that means you cant bring nothin to the streets. It just bugs me when I see all this rant about rice boys and then we got a bunch of blow hards blowin smoke up peoples asses. Unless there is some sort of magical fairy that waived a wand over the 240 with a rb in it, just be happy with a 13. Its a very respectable time. The new 350z only runs a 14.2 with a f1 driver. The new mercades s class v12 only does a 13.6 wit 450hp,516tq. the new corvette ls6 only runs a 13 flat 405hp/450tq. the new dodge viper on the other hand runs a 12.6., but that can be expected with a freakin 500 horse power engine in a 2800 lbs car. Im not directing my rant towards any one but seems like one guy got a 13.7 then another guy got 13.65 then some body gets a 12 on someslicks. Whatever
 :crazyrant :happyfing

well i dont know, where you got slicks from, but i said radials "street tire" but i will be pushing about 340-350 so there. thats what im judging, i think the new vettes are a tad slower than that w/o that race car driver of course

sorry but if you think a 7k car and a 3k motor with a fiew bolt ons makes a 12 second car your mistaken. and please spare me the schpeil about all the technical reasons why it theoritically should work. Your under powered.

got ZX?
anyway.. The internals of the RB25 NOT 26 arent put through the same paces as a RB26 or a VG30DETT. There not designed to be. Thats why LK gives that number.. You could push them to 450+. But why waste the money on a one month self destructing engine??? just upgrade them or swain coat them. I can get a full set of badass RB25 rods and pins(cunningham custom made) and some forged heads for 1400. and swain coating(gold) is $12 a pop plus shipping on the pistons.
I belive the SR uses simalar(sp?) pistons as the TTZ. as in better quality

hmm i think your mistaken man... i spent 4k on my car and planning on spending 7-10k+ on my rb25+mods ... pushing 350+ to the wheels ... now if a heavy ass cobra (3,665lbs) can run 12's with 390 hp the crank... tell me why a 2800lb rwd car can't with over 400...

you can't even get an rb25det in a 240 for 3k... so i don't know where you got that number...

:greddy: 350, your in like flint. I was mostly referring to any missconception that stock rb25 with a test pipe and slicks will give you those times. sorry If i came off like an ass. Just tryen not to let the faqs drift to fiction :12dunno

BTW how do you like your pro kit, ride stiffness, body roll etc....

Ya but the c5 TT vette did a 8.95 on street tires...

w/ 310 wheel horsepower you should be in the 12's...but it all depends on your driving.

I have a friend with a S13 SR blacktop that went to the track over the weekend. the only mods on his car are: Greddy FM, 16inch rims, wore out drag radials, and Tein HE's.....he ran a 13.7 and he missed 3rd gear on that run, so he would of been 13.5 or maybe even lower than that if he would have caught that gear.

I am going to swapping in my RB25 once it arrives. My goal is a 13.0 with the few mods that I will have. The RB25 comes with a T28bb turbo, not like the SR's T25. You will make more power with the T28 and it will be allot more efficient with the ball bearings feature. You will need traction ( drag radials or slicks and/or some suspension parts, such as coilovers). I think with turning up the boost and some traction you can hit LOW 13's..........if my friend ran a 13.7 missing 3rd with a SR, I think that you can hit a low 13 with ease if you have the RB25.

Bigger exhaust is one. I have the Apex'i GTspec (3.74), which will go well with the inline 6. If you really want to get allot of power, you should get a bigger turbo with a custom exhaust manifold made, with an external wastegate. You can run 400HP on the stock internals with ease. There are shops out in Japan that have tuned R33 GTS-25t (RB25DET) up to 550HP + on the stock internals. You really want to cover your traction problems before you do any mods to your motor and getting some drag radials are not going to help you out 100%, you will seriously want to think about getting a LSD, good tires, and some quality coilovers.

uhhh 14.5 u dont have to flame this but anyways... 350 in a car that weighs 2800 vs 390 in a cobra that weighs 3600 i do believe i will hit 12s, they do so...... ill just post the timeslip when it happens alright.

I bet it would run mid to high 12's. CarTest 2000 told me so :D I put 350hp 330tq (I don't know how much torque they have) in a 2800 lbs 240 and it did 12.75 @ 115 mph. This program is pretty accurate too, I've compared it to the real stats. There are lots of other factors though :12dunno

don't doubt you'll hit 12s unless you really suck at driving.

oha nd 14.5 what the hell are you reading to be throwing out that a z06 vette runs a 13 flat??? 02' and 03' models have been known to even dip into the 11s with good tires. They're mainly a low to mid 12 sec car with good drivers.

james that's a pretty damn good estimation. Can you tell me where to get this program? Would like to know an estimated 1/4 time for the m3.

2001 M3 13.78 @ 102.70 mph Is it close?

The Java version I have was $35 but you can download a free DOS version. I thought I'd go ahead and give the guy $35 for his work since I used the DOS version so much. http://www.cartestsoftware.com/

Edit: hah. I just took that test in your signature. I think the histrionic one is off. It should be low.
