Hey all

The ignition switch is bad on my 240sx. the way i can tell:

If i try to start the car by cranking it over with the key, fuel floods the cylinders and it can't start

If I try to start the car by cranking it over by jumping the starter solenoid to the battery, it starts up as normal.

Now do I have to replace the entire ignition switch assembly? or can i just buy the ignition switch from a 240 in the pick n pull or something like that

so buy this:

or the whole deal:

you going to need the whole thing. (i thought it was all one piece.
na, you dont need to buy the whole ignition assy. you can buy just the switch separate. i replaced my entire assy because my key wouldnt stay in the ign. but the switch itself can be bought separate from just about any parts store
i took one off an 89 240sx from the pick n pull and that didn't work. It was cheap so whatever.

Does it have to match the same year car?
im only asking this because my very first s13.
when i bought it. it had 2 ign switch's
one to start
one to unlock wheel.
is the pigtail f*cked up on ur's or disconnected?

when i asked the kid WHY the F*ck would he do something so stupid he said it was flooding with fuel n not starting. and when he did that it fixed it.(i removed the 2nd ign switch and found the pigtail melted. remove the screw on the back of it where the wires are and see if its fkd up inside...) put the good guts in it and had 1 switch for all...
I pulled the switch off last night to replace it and it looked pretty normal. There is some ghetto splice job mid wire for one of them, but all the connections seemed tight so i dunno.

I was looking around and a new ignition switch is 30 bucks, i might just do that if it will work

get a new switch. that "ghetto splice job" is prob for a kill switch that somebody rigged up. not a bad idea if done right
