I was wondering if buyin an engine or clip from ebay is safe???

and also what all should be included with the engine?
like what parts are usually left off i wanna know so i dont get jipped...

lookin for a sr20det red or black top

are clips better?

Generally...no. I would NEVER buy a clip (or motorset) from ebay, just to many things can go wrong. If you do, just make sure you know alot about the person you are buying from so you can get on their ass if they try to screw you.

I'm not ever gonna buy anything from eBay. There have been WAY too many horror stories with stuff bought from there.

ive bought about 25-30 things on there. no probs here so far. stuff i bought ranged from 20-400 dollars. i dont know i think its pretty good just make sure everything is explained well. pay by credit card so you can retract payment in 90days. just be careful. email the seller and ask about compression and such and it all the parts are there for a clean swap and make sure the ecu is there cuase i heard they are hard to get.

Last person I know who got anything from there ordered a spoiler and she had to stay on the phone with the guy for months to get it. This was just her experience, but it's enough to keep me from getting something as important as an engine from ebay. My two-cents...

I would personally buy an engine off ebay. IF the seller has 100% feedback and actually has engines sold with that feedback, I dont see a problem. FOr shits and giggles I searched on RB26's one day and there was a guy selling a Tomei built RB26. HAd 100% feedback only problem was he sold fishing tackle and fishing lines. So that was the first clue. So I personally would buy one. If it came with everything needed or if the price was adjusted for missing items...why not. People have been raped by shops, what is so different about ebay.......?

We sell on eBay and have seen a lot of scams going on there. One thing to look out for is an auction for *pictures*. Make sure the auction is specifically for a motor. The wording they will use is something like "you are bidding on exactly what you see below." I know a guy who won a *picture* of a B18C5 for $4600. The problem is that this is not illegal and there was no course of action to be taken against the seller since he described what it was he was selling. There are other scams out there that are similar to this one so be sure you always read through the entire auction before bidding on anything. And of course you should always check feedback!

It's just the way I am, but I'm not up for bidding on anything that I have to read the print that carefully. Still though, shouldn't that guy have been able to get his money back in court? Aren't those deceptive practices, or couldn't it be said that there wasn't a meeting of the minds for the transaction? Just seems like something should have been able to be done.

*edit: and no joke, if somebody pulled that scam on the wrong person after they had saved up their money like that I hope he'd be watching his back, cause I'd almost say he has any retalliation that's visited on him coming, WHATEVER it may be... (as you can tell I don't like con-artists much at ALL)
