the guys actually selling for about 3900, but im thinking we can hit up around 3000

anyways, its got 160k on it :(

aside from that it has a few minor probs

*A crack in the windshield, passenger side

*the AC has a slight clicky prob, but it worked fine after warming the car up

*the drivers side window is jerky when going up and down

*some minor scratches, lil bit of rust

Other than that, the car runs pretty nicely, i like the way the engine sounds, nice wooshing sound, i didnt get to really test out its speed since they dealer didnt put any gas in it, and my mom was there, but ya

i like it, nice small turning radius (compared to my lumina) and ya it just sounds really nice

whats a good price? is 3500 or so good?

im gonna get a tranny swap eventually (first thing probly) and then a engine swap so the 160k isnt a BIG deal...

anyone know any free carfax reports?

2500 just because the windsheild is cracked
rb26 is right. a crack in the windshield means you can ask far less. don't know why, just trust me :)

don't bother swapping the tranny if you're swapping the engine later. it's gonna cost you at least 500-800 bucks to make it 5 speed.

one piece of advice. if you're looking at buying a car, don't do anything less than pay the thirty bucks to check out that car's history thru carfax. trust me, it's not worth it to do anything less. our cars always have tons of gremlins

jerky window means it may be dying. but that's not gonna cost you a penny over 100 bucks. probably less. and it only takes an hour to replace, if you're highly inexperienced.

clicky A/C could just be a bit of dirt in the fan or a rubber shroud is clicking on it. nothing to worry about.

if it's an SE, don't ask if it's LSD or anythng like that. check for yourself, and say you're looking for rust. LSD means they ask 800 billion dollars more for it.

also, how much rust are we talking about, and where?

insist that they fill the tank on the car and take it on a real test drive. take it on the freeway, through town, etc. with one of their salesmen in it. make sure there aren't any gremlins, because dealerships are notorious for trying to sell you absolute crap.

Just wait for a better car, dont jump all over this problematic one just because your anxious. A better one will come along
you don't know if it's problematic or not.

if those are the only issues, and it runs great, and the interior is good, with decent paint, then for a price of about 3k, i'd call it a hell of a buy.
keep lookin
I'm on the fence with this one. If you get him down past 3k it might be worth your while. If he continues to stick around his asking price walk away. It apears to be an average car. I would wait but if that is definatly the only one in the area and has been and will be, then start talking him down and hope for the best.
i know were a nice one is in ohio. 3gs for a auto 95 with over 100k. none of those problems u stated either
id stay away from rust and any windshield cracks and save up for one in better condition myself, but 3k is getting fairly cheap if everything else is in really good condition and it runs great.
*sigh* too many people on these forums run away from cars with problems. our cars, regardless of how old the woman who had it drove it, will have a crack or something. people told me to just part out my '95 after i crashed it and get a new one. if you are the kind of person who runs away from problems, i wouldn't suggest buying a 240sx. but on the other hand, if you're like me, and think a problem is nothing more than something for you to fix, then these images might help you decide (it's what is going on with my '95)

Where'd you get that? Mine is bent to shit and I've been killing myself trying to bend it back...I'd rather just replace it. Does any welding have to be done to it?

it's an OEM '98 core support from nissan. all we did was drill out the spot welds on the old one, remove it, pop the new one on, drill tiny holes where the new welds went, and we tack-welded the new core support in.

a ton of tiny spot welds. easy to do, but lots of them.

160k is alot. just to give you an idea. my car was a base 4 lug auto with 94kmint condition no radio. i paid out of pocket 3000k ive had the car over a year no problems yet. 160k it may need a new engine. i would say keep looking.
160k isn't too bad.

people underestimate the true strength of the KA series engine : it'll outlive you and your children.

provided the motor was taken decent care of, 160k miles is nothing for that KA.

at the absolute worst, it could use a rebuild.
