KA24 Transmission Strength

I hate to hijack one of the other threads so I'll start my own. I searched around and found only little bits and pieces of what I wanted. I come from a land not so far, far away where if we want to boost our [GA16DE] engines to anything unreasonable, like say, over 200wph, we have to go through two or three stages of clutches... puck discs, H/D pressure plates and spend a rediculous amount of money on the transmission internals just to hold all the power.

Just how strong is the KA24 transmission? In all my research I haven't really seen anything mentioning the transmission. Do you 300+ wph guys even touch the tranny? That's remarkable.

Where I come from with 170bhp stock h/p the transmission has to be upgraded. Subarus transmission suck dick. I don't know about the nissans I wouldn't mind knowing how well they are but I don't really care cause they only sell for about $200.00 and the subarus for a used one was anywhere from 1200-2500 and no they wern't covered under waranty. I know my friend had a centerforce in his 240sx and it went out in around 3k miles and would slip on the highway at about 55mph when you dropped in 4th gear. What clutch will hold the most h/p for the ka24de and how much h/p is it good for?

Centerforce sucks anyway. That's universal knowledge. It seems like it would be a lot, since I see all these guys on here running over 300 to the ground and they make no mention of transmission upgrades. The idea that a stock transmission is that strong is new to me.

I guess that's because since they also put the KA24 in the Frontier, Nissan didn't want a weak tranny blowing up every time someone decided to haul or tow something. But hey that's cool to know. One less thing I have to spend money on.

Wait a minute, so how much torque can the clutch itself take? When I mentioned the transmission strength I was also referring to the clutch, being part of the transmission. Again I also never see anyone mention clutch upgrades on their high-hp KA's, but then what do I know? I'm a GA16 guy.

That's what I thought. Something about the stock clutch holding all that power just didn't sound right anyway. I wasn't clear when I asked about the strength of the transmission. I also included the clutch.

ya i don't know how it is in other car communities but we generally don't include the clutch as part of the transmission...altho technically it is. but then so is the driveshaft and differential. But ya, these trannies were built right i can tell you that much.

Nah, it's the same where I come from which isn't far away. I'm the local GA16 expert. Hey, still Nissan... anyway I should have said clutch instead of transmission... That's what I meant.

ACT? JWT? Those are the good clutch manufacturers for GA's. Same for KA's?

yeah my centerforce clutch doesnt suck, it actually works quit well thanx, just because you dont like something doesnt make it suck, if your going to say something sucks at least have some reasons as to why, dont just say things without anything to substantiate what your saying.

It's safe for you to assume that I said bad things about it because I didn't like it, but no, I have friends who all have nothing but problems with their centerforce clutches. From my experiences, centerforce *generally* does not make as good a clutch as say, ACT or JWT. That's my opinion, and no one's forcing that on you. No need to be an asshole, man, we're all Nissan guys here. Please don't hijack this thread with a flame war. It's not necessary. Let's be nice! :)
