Hey guys,
I have a 1993 240sx with a blown motor. Its a KA24DE. Now whenever I buy parts I see listings for 89-94 (S13) and 95-98 (S14). My question is....will a later long block KA24DE go into an early car and if so what differences are there in the blocks and electronics. It's my understanding the the KA24DE is the same block through all years. I do know they both take the same Nissan cluctch but that's about it. I really don't know about the block so I am asking you! Thanks!

Yes...lmao ......that's great. Maybe I could just put her in my hatchback and call it a day. Forget the engine swap. I could put a "powered by Popeyes" sticker on the windshield as well. Anyway...now that I know what ODBII and I mean let me ask you all this. The engine in question is a 97. So it's ODBII for sure. And really this what my original question was all about. If I get the engine and take off all the sensored stuff....ie fuel rail, intake, distributor, exhaust, egr ...etc etc can I put all my S13 (ODBI) peripherals on the 97 long block and expect it to run decently with my ODBI electronics?

I realize there are internal differences notably the cams are hotter in mine (which I can also swap) I just really need a good bottom end. I just don't want to get this thing and realize the bolt pattern is different for the tranny bolt up for example. Or the intakes have a different port design... that kind of stuff. Please someone...anyone...that has done this please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you should be able to put a S14 KA24DE in your S13 no problem.
The only difference is the change to OBDII.
Your right, however it depends on which year you have...a KA24DE is a direct swap into all chassis years however on the 89/90 years with the KA24E you would need the power steering lines from a DOHC car. Unless of course you don't want power steering. I believe that's the only difference, please someone post if more is needed.

There is no howevers.
I was providing him with information.
I knew he had a 93 S13, as he said that in his first post.

An early 95 Zenki
Actually, FAST told me more then that just right now.
It says there was eight different ECUs for the zenki, excluding the auto ECUs.
It can't find any illustrations of the OBD/II wiring though.

Yeah, just using the head, block, ect.
All of that stuff is the same.
It would run just like the S14 engine ran, provided your electronics from the S13 up to the task.
I belive the bellhousing on a S14 is slightly bigger?
FAST is saying that the rear plate changes between 93 and 94, then it stays the same until its demise.
Im not too sure on this one, wait for someone more knowlagable to chime in.
Of course until then, alot of people are just going to say get a S14 trans.
