So I was turning the engine by hand with a 27mm socket.(before hand We put oil in the spark plug holes) We were turning counter clock wise and it was getting easier. We then spun it clock wise and nothing was moving. (We had the valve cover off so we could see what was happening) We were doing all of this so we could get the engine to top dead center in order to install the distributor cap but It also didnt work. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

sorry for the late reply but we took the cams off and now it turns all the way around and we were turning it clockwise so we are thinking that it wasn't cranking bc of an issue with the cams not being lined up and opening the values at the wrong times. we verified they were wrong by cranking the engine to top dead center but when we looked at the cams they weren't at 3 and 9 o'clock
