ka24e and sr20det trans

if i do an engine swap from the ka to the sr do i need to change out the trans

The answer to your question is:

If your motorset comes with a transmission then you are not required to change the transmission over to a KA. If you only have the motor and need a transmission option then you can use a KA tranny, but you still need the SR bellhousing. I've used both SR trannys and KA trannys on my motor and I actually like the KA better. Moral of the story... don't swap the transmission unless you have to, but even if you do.. good luck finding just a SR bellhousing. The KA tranny is more of an option for people that blow their SR tranny out.

KA trans and SR trans are the same thing pretty much. They might have slightly different synchros or something, but the ratios are the same, as well as the case. The SR has a different bellhousing from the KA trans. Other than that, though, the actual transmission is the same.

^even though that is a good answer it still doesnt answer the question.

thats the type of shit im complaining about.
