So its hard to find sohc parts, ive been looking for a while now. Ive decided to focus on this and turbo it in a while. problem 1- SOCH (less aftermarket) 2- automatic, id be focusing on engine first then the trans. I want to focus on the head first, also idk if i should go ahead and get the pulleys and a clutch for the a/t. If anyone can give me sites or information on where i can find parts for the sohc i would appreciate it. thanks Don yes i searched

for a turbo you can go here http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/index.html

de and e pistons are the same except the compression will be different and i dont remember how it changes you could do a manual swap that is faily easy to come by

jgs tools has a sohc turbo kit its not complete but its a good starting point

you might want to head over to ka-t.org
http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=5 is the sohc section

I just pulled a ka24e out of my car. block may not be good but the head and cam is good if you'd be interested.

i know someone that started the single cam journey but decided to go CA instead. the head has been ported polished 3 angle valve job, nisamo r4 cam, solid intake rocker arms and nismo adjustable cam sprocket. he has proof of the work done and has TONS of pics of the head work. just thought id give ya the ehads up!! sohc parts are few and far between, good luck man.

ok, I was going to do the whole KA24E turbo, well untill the block froze up, the head the Top-Mount is refering to is mine and it is in PERFECT condition, feel free to pm me if you have questions or want to see pics of it, as for finding parts: JGS, JWT, Nismo are main producers, Gladman Performance makes great manifolds, and some in the community went through Colt Cams and got a custom cam ground for them as for the whole focusing on motor before tranny: BAD IDEA, i know in Nismo's descprition of the cam I used, it specifically said NO A/T, also i just dont like them, but honestly, do a 5mt conversion then start building

Here's what I would do:

If you are set on building a SOHC engine, pic up another engine and build it on the side.

If you are open to the KA24DE, I would get that and build it. This is what I would do if I wanted to build a KA engine, especially since yo can get them pretty cheap and they have a better aftermarket.

The key is to start off with the right platform, not just working with what you have in your car right now. My personal preference is the SR or RB, but that's just me.

So, buy another engine, whatever you prefer, build it right the first time while you drive your car around stock. Once it is built, swap it in and have fun. I wouldn't waste any money piecing mods together. Do it right the first time. I know it is hard, but it will be the least stressful and least expensive. In my 10 years of modding, I have witnessed MANY people not plan properly and waste TONS of money in the process.

Hope this helps, and good luck!!:thumbsup
