Maryland Question

Hey I have a few questions about turboing a car in Maryland. I am looking to get a 89-91 240 in the next few months and drop a rb20 in it. Now is there anyway to make this legal? I was thinking since it will be 20 years old to make it historic. Will making it historic make turboing it legal? Im just trying to figure out how to get this done and be able to drive it on the roads. I love in Montgomery County if that makes a difference

Not true. You can register your car without inspection in maryland if it is over 20 years old. With historic tags you are only suppose to drive it on weekends though. I have my 1989 hatchback registered as historic and I never got it inspected and I don't have to deal with emissions. :beer2:
well there ya go. lol. somebody with better experience in that. figured u would hav to hav the car straight before getting the tags though. gl with that....thanx for the info dub
To be registered as a historic vehicle (class L), your vehicle must be 20 model years old or older and must not have been substantially altered, remodeled or remanufactured.
A historic registered vehicle cannot be used for general daily transportation, or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways. It can only be used in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses.

I think I also read there is a 1 time inspection for hot rods and yearly or bi yearly for historic? dub did you just not do it or is it not necissary? So if I get a rolling chassis and drop a rb20 in it all I need to do is fill out the form and get the tags and its good to go
I'm not saying what is Maryland legal or not.

I bought a 1989 chasis and swaped a sr20 into it. I took the title and proof of insurance to the MVA and got it registered with no problems. No emissions, no inspection, not even a question if the vechile was altered. I don't drive the car daily, but I have been pulled over by a county police officer multiple times and I have yet to experienced a problem.
That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
one more question dub. Are there any requirements to get the historic insurance? My friend said you might have to be 25. Im 21. I hope this isn't the case but i'll e-mail geico tomorrow.
