So here we are. I'm calling around to a few people i kno and i find a neo rb25det front clip for sale and for a damn good price too. So i keep talking to the guy and find out that the neo clip is a tiptronic :( . After finding that out I go to the aussie forums and start talking to guys that have this as well and it doesnt seem to bad its pretty stout for an auto tranny, but I was wondering waht you guys would do in my shoes. I mean the neo is hard as hell to find and I was thinking of getting it then upgrading to a full manual in the future once I got tired of it or when the tranny craps on me if it ever does.

honestly, i think it would really depend on how good the price is. I mean, if its a really great deal, then go for it. Because the rb26 swap is gaining (somewhat) in popularity, many companies are selling conversion kits that include rb25 rwd trannys instead of the rb26 awd tranny (i think thats correct - somebody tell me if thats wrong, b/c thats just what i remember). So if its a really good deal, i'd say its worth it, then u can contact any one of the many companies thats selling those kinda kits.

By the way, how much is the one you're looking at going for, if you dont mind me asking?

oops - i just did some research real quick, and i had confused the rb25 oil pan w/the tranny, lol. My bad. I had remembered that u needed a few rb25 parts for the rb26 swap, and i had assumed that the tranny was one of em - sorry for the mis-information there.

However, in an attempt to salvage a bit of credibility, lol, i wanted to direct you to the forums on www.rb25det.org - they have some good information there (although the forum is reletively small). They have a couple of topics there about the neo vs. the non-neo 25's. I dunno if that'll help you w/your decision, though. Again, it all comes down to how good of a deal you're getting.

yea its a hell of a deal i dont relaly want to say the price cause im scared someone else may scoop it up but what im thinking is just sourcing a rb20/25 tranny and putting that on there because my s13 shell still has all of the manual parts so in theory i guess all i need is the rb manual tranny to convert it. im still trying to figure that part of the whole thing out. yeah im on that forum as well bugging those guys haha

1. SpookyKid- obviously your research is not very good because you do need the rb25 tranny for the rb26 engine. Otherwise you would have to make your 240 awd.

2. 33truballa33 - You can't just take any rb25 tranny to make your neo rb25 a manual. you need a r34 tranny. They used a different type of clutch.

i kno the trannies use a different type of clutch but wouldnt a rb20/25 tranny still work because it wouldnt really matter because the car is being converted from a tiptronic????????????????????????????

edit: im still heavily researching this so plz bare with me

You are putting it in a 240. for the conversion you will need:

rb20/25 flywheel
rb20/25/vg30 clutch (these are all push type)
rb20/25/converted 26 tranny

guess what you need all of these anyway to convert to the 5 speed so it won't cost you any more money (actually less) if you were to use a neo tranny. I don't know much about the neo motors but I am quite sure you can use a non-neo flywheel on this motor since they have the same crank. I say do it. I actually have all of these parts myself so it isn't like this stuff is that hard to find. if it is a great deal then go buy it now. Oh and if I am wrong about the r32/33 flywheel feel free to tell me to stfu.

Im really a DSM fan at heart. Im going to swap a 4g63 in it so i can make some real power. I think 2g DSMS look REAL nice. I dont know where any of those are at though!
What a 4g63 motor?

dude look around www.dsmtrader.com

I dont see the point in swapping in a 4g from a 2g dsm it'll crankwalk/ blowup anyways :D.

Yes I am a former DSM owner so I can talk much shit on any dsm.
