Ok I am getting a noise ratteling type its a 91 240sx just bought it friday....

from the valve cover in front by the fan the only thing that i found is thishttp://www.240sxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72526

guy says the lower tensioners crap out and causes that noise like the timing chain is ratteling......:eek3dance

The top one is probobly broken. I know mine is. If I didnt have to take off a strut bar and stuggle to get stuck plug wires off, then it would be done.

there Is A Guide Right Under The Timing Cover You Can Remove With A 10 Mm Socket, But If The Chain Is Rubbing That Guide, That Means That The Plast Guide On The Tensioners I Wore Out And Should Be Replaced, Ive Done It A Million Times Im A Certified Nissan Mechanic, Agin You Can Remove That Guide, And Get Rid Of The Noise, But I Wopuld Recommend Changing Your Timming Guides And Tensioners. The Tensioners Are Powered By Your Oil Pressure, So You Might Want To Check Your Oil Pressure And Make Sure It Is Up To Par
