well, all of the above? a good drift suspension set-up will blow on the street, depending on how you turn for drifting that could also blow on the street, and yes. a track car will eventually break and leave you stranded

 

is there any suspension setup that is mild enough to be both because believe it or not and hate me for it or not but i have a 71 Nova that will be my full on track drift car.

 

Yeah leaf springs and fixed rear axle for drifting - thats gonna be fun...

 

Heavy old muscle cars don't scream drift car to me.. Ah well, to each their own though.

 

it wont be heavy it will go on the jenny creig diet and remember its power to weight ratio and suspension setup that counts.

 

not really for drifting.. i mean you can pull it off, like the bf-goodrich team i think that runs a viper, but its MUCH easier to drift in lighter, more agile small cars.

but yeah, you can do both. but the optimum drift set-up will suck on the streets. if you want it nild enough on the streets, it depends on how hard you like your ass to hurt

 

Acctually i think if he sets up that nova with the right power he can throw that thing around the track pretty easy... what do you have in it?

 

I dunno, I've been to a couple Forumla D events where the Falken guys were running that old Camero. Sure it looked and sounded cool, but they were having tremendous problems getting it dialed in properly.

 

yea but he isnt a pro so its gonna be a fun car just to mess around with. hell if i remember correctly didnt there used to be an old pick up truck?

 

Its getting a 502 BB with a roots type supercharger and methanol injection. I am aiming towards 600-800Whp. Also i am removing the stock suspesion and installing a 4 point coil over system so this beast is going to have a modern suspension.

 

the only problem i have is chosing the transmission and what clutch to go with.

 

yea i think that nova will whip around no problem just the question is will it go to far lol

 

It's still going to be very heavy. You'll need to put some serious planning into the weight reduction and corresponding suspension geometry.

 

eh start with fiberglass parts that would be useful im pretty sure thats a little light then steel if you ask me:thumbsup

 

Yup. Alot of the car will be replaced with fiberglass. the windows are being replaced with lexan. Shes gonna go on a very strict diet no unnecessary fat will be over looked. Do you guys run high or low gears in the rear end?

 

ive never drifted so i cant help you there i might get into it though
