Indeed sir... Only things I'm touching internally on the newer engine will be pistons, rods, and cams. I MIGHT do a port and polish on the head, but I'm a cheap-ass so I doubt it. Haha!

i wont touch pistons or cams. if i will do cams i need to upgrade retainers, then springs and such. im a "if i do that, why shouldnt i do that to?"-person.
im scared that one day when i clean my car/engine bay, i end dissassembling my engine ordering the tomei 2.2 stroker kit and welding in a cage:eek4:

Ruh roh... Yeah, I'm the same way though Jakob. I forgot to mention about the spring, retainers, and cam gears. But those go hand-in-hand with the internal mods I have planned. Pistons are really just to get the compression up a decent amount, rods because... well the block will be out anyways and the pistons will be replaced, cams to get a little more aggressive profile to run with the ITBs, and the ITBs because they are SEX! No other reason for them at all... Haha JK Just do those 'major' mods along with an engine management system and a few bolt-ons on the engine and I'll be done as far as making power.

You don't have to change retainers, springs, or lifters with the cams Jimmy at Fuji Racing offers. Iirc, the Stage 1 and 2 cams can be used w/ stock valvetrain on the 1.6L.

yea i know its not necessary but i was trying to explain that me, as a person, i would change that too by the way. why openening the valve cover 2 or 3 times? whey remove the cams 2 or 3 times? jup thats the way i think and right now i havent bought an oilfilter yet because i need a sandwichplate and a defi link display because i dont want any gauges to display my oiltemp and oilpress

Yeah, I'm with Jakob... I might not exchange the springs and retainers though since you just enlightened me on this fact Alan. But it would be a prime time to do it however if I were going to. Too bad I'm cheap... :(

im broke haha thats nearly the same :D
but im looking for a 2nd job!
cant be too far from getting an exhaust system

Yeah, I know what you mean... I would get a second job, but with working from 8-5 Monday-Friday, that would make it kinda hard. Haha! Plus I get paid enough here to where I don't have to worry about it TOO much. Would be nice to get a LIL extra though... But oh well. I'm lucky when it comes to my exhaust for my S14 project. I still have my APEXi R-95 one from my other car. :woowooo

well dude im still going to school and have 1 job and get 140. since they rasied fuel to 8.20$/gallon im a lil fucked haha

Yeah, I need to buy an exhaust system for the car sometime soon. Its kinda dumb to have a $400 header (for cheap) and stock 1.75" mild steel exhaust.... Plus, I've given thought to doing nothing but making the Miata cleaner and handle better (i.e. no turbo for a while) b/c I'll probably sell this car in the next 2 years for something mid engine and 1950lbs.....

......take a wild guess what it might be. :D

Sounds like an Elise to me... Damn Alan, where are you making all of this $$$? I want in, I don't care if it's legal or not!!! :D

Ha, I'm not making THAT much...
However, supposing I land this promotion at work and can finish up what I want to do to the Miata in the next year or so, I should (supposing I don't have a g/f, mortgage, or school debt) be able to land an Elise for 25-30k in 2009-2010. I've shopped around on elisetalk.com, Ebay, and autotrader and found them for 35-45k, and Exiges for $45-60k...but I don't want an Exige.

Its all in my head right now, but if I can save enough cash, it should be pretty easy to walk into a dealership and put around 20k down for an Elise and pay the last 10k (including ghey IR) off in a year or so.
I just have to stay single....which hasn't been a problem so far.
However, if Diana gets smart and dumps her b/f soon...my plans might go on hold...hahaha (not that I would complain).

Jakob, no more S13/14 for me. Had 3, and I don't want any more. Fun cars, but they're pigs compared to my car...and just not as fun.

woooo... elise? damn son.

lol@chicks, they dont get smart haha no matter what you do

^:werd Just ask all of my ex's... Haha! Yeah, that sounds like a plan bro. If I buy a nice car for that kinda money, I'm probably gonna buy an early-90's NSX for around $30K or less and do a few tasteful mods to it and drive it everyday. But eh, that's just me. Figured when I hit the $20/hr mark I can afford that, my bills, and afford to live just a level above ho-bo to afford it. Haha! :p

BTW... I might have found a set of coilovers to run on the Miata when I start going crazy on the suspension work and such. http://www.949racing.com/ Bottom of the page the 949Racing XIDA Full Race Coilovers. Let me know what you think Alan when you get the time since you're the suspension guru around these parts. Haha

I'm going to tell you what I told myself (so don't get offended b/c you know I'm just being honest...hahaha) when I was talking to Emilio about the XIDA coilovers. "They're way out of your league."

Yeah, they're bad ass.
Yes, they're made by Tein.
Yes, they have the adjustability and valving of coilovers 2-3x their price.

BUT

Do you really need them?
Imo, they're pimp. However, as much as I know about suspension, I can't apply it to my car w/o plenty more seat time, tire changes, and alignment changes....therefore the 949/Tein coilovers are a good bit ahead of my driving ability.

In short:
The all out performance and quality of these coilovers > my driving ability and knowledge.

Btw, Calton, there's a HUGE thread (huge in terms of info and whatnot in it) on M.net. Good read for anyone, imo.
