Hi there. 1990 is an S13, 1995-98 is an S14. To answer your question, it depends on what you want.
To put in another Ka24de engine, today, it will probably run you close to $2,000 if not more. You have to factor in costs for refreshing the engine or rebuilding it if that's what it needs.
Transmissions can be hit or miss. Autos suck and most of the manual 5 speeds are damaged in one way or another.
If it really was a $500 affair for the seller to get another engine and trans, they would do it and sell the car for $6,000-9,000.
I'm not trying to talk you out of it. I want you to do some more research before you dive into a project. Go on facebook marketplace near you and see what a 1992 240sx ka24de engine costs. It's not 2012 anymore that you could get a $500 shell and slap in a $500 engine/trans combo and fart around.
i would offer 2k at most if shell is in good condition with suspension but if the car is in pretty bad condition i think 1000-1500 would be reasonable. I bought my 240 with a rebuilt ka24de in august 2022 for 1250 even though it needed a rad new head and some other miscellaneous parts
