little high on the prize.
when I got mine back in 99' it cost me 1900 complitely stock with around the same miles, its a 89 also and in very good condition.
as far as a starting mod... you have to decide what you plan to do with the car, you know, turbo, sr, rb, so you dont waste money in the engine for something you are going to get rid of later. Like buying a 2.5 in catback and an exhaust manifold if you are going to turbocharge the car (happened to me).
definitely for the first mod, get good coilovers and a z32 break swap, and dont get wheels if you plan to do a 5 lug conversion (happened to me too) and dont paint the car if you want a body kit. think about it before you buy so you dont waste any money on useless crap
ya, thats a bit much for an 89 240. i got mine for $800 plus a free 2.5 in. catback exhaust they had bought but didn't put on. first thing i would do would be to make sure that everything is well maintained. check the chain guides, i've seen a lot of KA-E's with destroyed chain guides. before you start modifying it, replace anything that may need replaced, such as fuel injectors, spark plugs and air filter. after that it depends on the budget you're working with and you future plans.
5sp? check for rust. how's the supsension? 2800 is a bit much for an 89. i'd try to haggle the guy down.

to put it in perspective, my roommate just picked up a 90 hatch, 5sp, 130kmi, great interior, engine pulls hard and the suspension is great for being that old. no rust either, only paid 1k for it.

haggling is key....i haggled the dealership i got my car 91 from to death....started at nearly $3000 and they ended up givin it to me for $1500 before taxes...$2069 after taxes:(

$1500!! you win, :1bowdown

I will never sell you anything though j/k
As far as moding goes, I think starting with the suspension is always a good idea. You cannot have too nice of suspension on a stock car. Next for me would be wheels and brakes at the same time. Save up money to get both. Getting big wheels with sticky tires will greatly reduce you breaking power. Once you have those done your ready to put butt loads of power under the hood, along with welding your diff :)
this is a simple order of safe moding.
thx guys, im gonna try to talk this guy down(local buy), but he's one of those old "i should still be in the civil war era" guys, and if i succeed in getting it for cheaper, it will be through haggling equal to the peace talks between israel and pakistan.thx again for all the advice.
well good luck with the sale but there are plenty of s13s out there so u dont have to buy this one. But being that this is general tech and not the noob forum dont ask ?s like what should i do first. There are fuckin tons of posts exactly like this, just read all the stickies on the forums, cruise around the noob board cuz u will actually learn something, and when u decide what u wanna do come back here or in any other section and ask specific ?s. for example should i run turbo x or turbo y. all that aside welcome to the community and good luck with ur car.
