hi guys and gals. i have a question to all you rb powered drivers out there, what is youre top speed??

ive been experencing fuel or boost cut at around 114-120. ive emailed the gentleman who did my wiring harness for a quote to eliminate any cut from my ecu. my question is to the rb 20,25,26 owners that have opened their cars up what have you hit in terms of top speed wheither drag or govenor?? mind you i have a stock fuel and turbo(with a r32 ruel pump).

i really can't believe that an r32 gts in japan runs out of steam at 120(stock).

Cut the speed sensor wire going to the ECU. When I had my wiring done, the guy left it looped by the ECU but if it's not just look up a pin out for which ever motor you have and cut it.

110 is speed cut on the manual ecu for the rb20det, it equils out to 180kph speed limmiter in japan, my car with a tun has seen 140 mph and still had alot more room to climb, With some simple math you can find ur top speed, such as red line, Rear end gear wich on stock 240s is a 4.11 or if u have a j30 diff its a 3.96 gear, and also tire size and gear ratios play a factor, there is a converter if u google it for this math. Hope this helps

cool iam going to send away my ecu for removal of the limiters hopefully i can nail 160(with a q45 diff). what is the difference in final drive numbers?? the lower it is the higher the top speed or vice versa??

make sure you have suspension and wheels to support this speed remember that we dont have Lambo's or Ferrari they still 240sx and roads out there are not the best ones for high speeds.. I have taken mine at arround 150 and I got room for more but it doesnt feel that smooth up there

Well let's look at the RB25DET gear ratios (from a Nissan forum post):

Transmission 5 speed manual
Gear Ratios Maximum Speed in Gears (* theoretical)
1 3.214 62 km/h (38 mph)
2 1.925 104 km/h (65 mph)
3 1.302 154 km/h (96 mph)
4 1.000 200 km/h (124 mph)
5 0.752 266 km/h (165 mph)*
Reverse 3.369 59 km/h (37 mph)

Yes, it seems that the lower the ratio the higher the theoretical maximum speed.

If you dont want to send your harness off here is how to remove the speed limiter on a rb20
A green and yellow wire, with a
silver trace, inserted in to pin 53, is
responsible for giving the ECU
your current speed.
Cutting this wire will disable the
speed governor.
Cut with caution, some have had
good results, others have not. If
you experience problems, just
solder the wire together again.

carl says he can reflash my ecu for $150.00 getting rid of the limiters and re mapping my fuel..
