do any one know how to remove the stock radio/cd player from a s14 (usdm)? the cd player on my deck no longer works and have a pioneer deck that i've long since took out of my crx since it's been broken into 6 times already.... plus someone showed me how they can unlock the doors with a mcdonald straw... that's why i got a s14 (usdm) now... also is it a pain to get a power anettena installed in the s14? if it isn't i might go along the lines of that.... any feedback would be helpful... thanks

The deck is easy to get out. Pull the Hazard and rear defrost buttons off carfully, and the 2 buttons on the sides of them. Then Carefully get pull that whole panel off and once its off disconnect the 2 harness's. Once that is complete pull up the bezel that is around the shifter and pull that back out of the way. Take the ashtray out as well. Now you should have about 5 or so screws showing to get the others panel off. And then everything is out in the open.

a couple of points. .. you should be very careful for the bezel piece that goes around the radio and the pocket it is quite fragile. also pull the radio cluster out by pulling on the metal frame.

if you're going to put an aftermarket radio in the vehicle, you'll need a converter to convert the signal to low level because the car does have factory amps in it to power the 6 speakers in the car. you can also assure that the amps stay on by wiring the amp turn-on lead to the power antenna lead to make sure the amps stay on while the aftermarket radio is in either cd or radio mode. good luck.

Um...I have the 6 speaker system in my car, I just pulled the stock headunit, wired up the new one and slapped it in (well I had to get the 2-1 antenna adapter) and so far its working just fine for me....sounds 10 times better too!

power antennas are easy to install - the antenna bolts right into place assuming it's a stock power one.

i grounded one wire and ran the remaining under the rear seat, door trim, and under the driver's carpet to the deck.

yeah i actually just tried installing my pioneer cd deck in today. Did all of those steps above, but when i got the actual stock stereo out, I couldn't get those damn wires out of the stereo. Those wires are plugged in hard and stuck, I tried prying it out with screwdrivers, pulling it out, and everything. I don't want to snap the plastic or anything, anyone know an easy solution to this?
