Thank you, sir. :beer2:

you mean the cam gear?...also i just went out and it cranked without the clutch in?
Cranking without the clutch in means your safety switch (A switch engages when you push the clutch in to prevent the car from taking off if its in gear) is bad/missing/shorted etc.

Are you positive you put the distributor in, with the engine at TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke?

Just to clarify, when your setting initial timing (Cams and crank) set the timing to TDC or 0*. When your adjusting ignition timing (Spark advance, while engine is running) use the mark all the way to the right, or 20* BTDC.

If you can, take a pic of your distributor rotor at TDC on the compression stroke. We'll be able to tell if your off by the location of that.

^Ok, but like we said it has to be top dead on compression not exhaust. And once you know 100% that you have it on compression tdc put the dizzy in with the dot in the right spot and try to start. If it just sounds like cranking with no chance of starting then repeat the steps again. Sometimes when you put the dizzy in its off by a tooth or two. It has to be exact! If it doesnt start but sounds like its almost about to have someone cranking it and someone turning the dizzy at the same time. If your cams are correct, your getting fuel/air, and all your wires are connected correctly its def the dizzy...

I had this same issue where my ka wouldnt start I pulled it all apart and reset the timing again I did it 3 times. I was then reading on one of the forums that if you put just a little bit of oil down your spark plug holes it will creat enough vacume to get everything going. After I put oil down my spark plug holes after about 3 cranks she fired right up and I never had an issue after that.
