Hey guys,
I'm new to the Nissans and have a quick question. What will it take to drop a redtop into my S14. i already searched with no luck. I know the differences between the engines like diff. turbo, etc. Will there be different wiring involved. I noticed that the S13 engine has a different intake manifold. Will a greddy intercooler kit for an S14 work with this engine? Also what about the ECU? Thanks for any info!

If you could afford the s14 sr20 do that. The s13 sr20 in the s14 chassis means that no intercooler kits are gonna fit...none. I have this set-up, I know. Oh, and apparently its a "ghetto" set-up, too. :rolleyes:

ok.. ghetto because??!?!? yea, if i could do my s13 into my s14 over, i would go s14.. but back when i was deciding, everyone was like, "dont get the s14 sr20 becuase it has a different intake port design and if u want to upgrade turbo and run higher boost, the vvtc will cause u major tuning problems".. if u cant afford the s14, go s13.. if u can go s14.. its worth it.. i should have gone with my gut instinct and got a s14.. o well... hey evil.. i got a hybrid s13 kit and it fits pretty well.. only problem i had with with the hotpipe meeting the ic pipe that goes into the fmic.. its was alright cuz i just used a straight pipe with a bov on it.. worked out for me.. lucky i guess...

Can you please tell me whats ghetto about it? I understand the intercooler piping but what else? It sounds more like personal opinions on if its right to do this swap. Is the electrical the same or are there differences? What about the ecu? Thanks.

um i disagree with you fools... im doing the s13 sr into my s14 swap right now... and as for the intercooler thing .. you must not no wut ur doing then.......... You make a custom intercooler and piping.. not that hard at all....And what is "ghetto" about a s13sr in s14?

ENGINE IS A ENGINE... WHAT YOU DO TO IT IS WHAT MATTERS!

I agree 100% Just because you cant go to a store any buy pre-made parts, it doesnt mean there ghetto.

I really havent just sat down, yanked off the bumper, and looked at the piping Im gonna need. Ive got the intercooler already (nice Spearco, bar and plate). Hell, It'll prolly only take me a few hours or so to do it, if I really kick myself in the ass to do it.

No parts, uh? Motor mounts match up, for sure. The only thing that doesnt is the stock intercooler piping...everything else looks perfect.

If you hurry up and half ass do something, it will look ghetto. A swap can be done clean if you take your time.

Parts lining up, ok. If you have a t67 turbo on a manifold, will the IC pipe line up? Probley not. Just because your bro's car is sloppy, donest mean that all cars are.

thanks for the info. I now know for a fact custom intercooler piping will be a must. I kinda figured that from the start. What about the ecu? Any OBD0 OBD1 issues i have to worry about? I'm all new to the Nissans. It used to be all Hondas for me.

why are you guys saying he needs a custom fab IC piping?

If your going to swap in a S13 SR into a S14....just get a aftermarket FMIC designed for the S13 SR and you will be fine.

As for the Greddy intake manifold...I have yet to see someone do that. As of right now I believe you can not use it.

s13 = older style chassis
s14 = newer style chassis

they are not the same, therefore, the piping for an s13 will not work in an s14.

The FMIC kit does not follow chassis....it follows the engine type. If you don't know, the cold pipe are different between the S13 and S14 SR.

My friend has a S13 redtop in this S14....

95kouki is correct.. the fmic follows the motor.. it basically depends on the the intake mani.. s14 and s13 have high and low flowing manis... my s13 fmic works fine with me s14.. i needed to use a 4 inch straight pipe in one area but thats it...
