i have an 89 240sx got it super cheap with a vg30de quad cam 3.0l in it...looks like the seals might be bad... really dont like how its mounted and the shifter sits back further than normal... does anyone know if they have aftermarket motor mounts for this motor in the s13 ive searched everywhere with no luck. ive debated swapping motors... or simply pulling the motor and clean it up a bit ...and dropping it back in...idk what to do with it... ideas?

Heres what you do. Bring the car to Knoxville. Give me the keys and title. Then I will give you the keys and title to a 90 240sx. Work for you? Lol. Thats an epic swap. Clean it up and replace your gaskets, seals, hoses, and change all the fluids. The shifter cant be any worse than a rb swapped 240 with a ka trans(been there done that) You will get used to it.
+1 ^ I'd love to have a VG30DE under the hood. The only down side to keeping the VG is the cramped engine bay, and the price of cams, headers etc. If you plan on keeping it stock, keep the VG. If you don't feel like spending $600-1000 on a set of cams, swap it for something else.
i gotta say the vg30 is pretty sweet, u should try to find a TT set up for it
That would be a challenge and a half mounting a twin turbo VG30 under the hood of an S chassis. Its by no means impossible (do a search, many have done it) but its not a swap for the average mechanic.
so heres a thought...idk if it will work or how bad of an idea it is...but the striking rod going into the trans is long...i could chop and wield it so its shorter...and also chop and wield the bracket that connects to the shifter... could possibly shorten it about 6-8 inches and get it just about right...and if it doesnt work...its easily replacable parts. and yes another downfall is how wide the vg30 is...right now i think they have a mangled exhaust manifold on the passanger side...and it still scrapes the side... ill find out more once i get the motor out.

There is a guy here were i live has one swapped in his 93 Hatch and he used a 300zx Trans, Hes Doesnt hit the side of the S chassis at all they come pretty close like an inch but he made Solid mounts so there is no Torque rock.... just dont rigg it in there to have to swapped take the time to problem solve a few of the issues if you can weild then it will be easy =)
Let it go.

Back to topic.
Theres a vg swapped 240sx in chattanooga. It belongs to a guy named chris. He has a tt setup but i have no idea how he got it to fit. I can get his number for you if you wanna ask him some questions about the swap
Or grab his email addy, probably better :p
is there a lot of custom fab for a swap like that? this is the first i have heard of someone doing it. sounds like a great idea tho
If you don't think you can finish everything else that car needs. And trust me, its got needs. Then I strongly suggest putting a KA / SR back in there so that you won't have to worry about engine troubles as much.
