S15 Front End Conversion

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and was wondering if anyone here or anyone you guys know of has done an S15 front end conversion by just taking the body panels off of an actual JDM Sylvia and putting them on a '95-'98 240sx body. The reason I ask is because that's exactly what I'm going to be doing in a few weeks (of course I'm not doing it myself) and was wondering whether it's been done. If anyone has any info, I'd really like to know how much, if any custom work is necessary to make it fit. Thanks guys.

They do not bolt up and they will not leave a huge gap, because you have to actually cut the fenders to line up with the car. This requires custom work and I have yet to see someone do this on a S14. ....this have been done on a S13 coupe.

Your better off buying a conversion kit...unless you want metal fenders.

no your not.

no you're not. liar. stop being an assclown. you dont even have a 240sx. anybody who had one, and went through the trouble to get a 98 silvia front clip from japan wouldnt ask that question. go drive you fucking crx to wal mart and buy an import magazine and learn.

WTF? Are you talking to me? I really hope not. I dunno what the hell I ever said to you to get your panties in a bunch, but whatever it was I'll be sure not to do it again. I thought these forums were supposed to be for people to ask questions and get help with stuff like this from others who share their love for cars. Don't accuse me of lying without even knowing who the hell I am, ASSCLOWN.

What the hell is your problem bro? What did I say to offend you so much? If you don't like something I said just let me know, or just don't read the post. Do you just enjoy going around and being angry? What's the deal here? Seriously, what's your issue? If anyone else has anything to say about this, please let me know, I could be wrong here :confused:

Don't worry, there's plenty of performance coming along with it. First of all, it's an S14, not an S13, and second of all there's a S15 R-Spec SR20DET, 6 speed tranny, and differential coming with that from clip. Any other questions?

never mind the haters. they have bugs in thier bums. The good news is this. If your getting a clip you WILL be able to use the headlights. The headlights are the most expensive item involved in the conversion. It would cost you less to get custom conversion fenders to do the face swap then to have custom work done to the stock body panels from an s15. So I would abandone that idea...

So heres what you'll need from what I understand:

s15 Lights - you have these
s14 -> s15 conversion fenders - to be had for 800 iirc
s14 -> s15conversion hood - you may not need this i dunno
s14 -> s15 conversion bumper - you have this. right?
swap specific light mounting brackets - you need these with the s13 swap, the s14 I dunno...

double check all this with a proffesional/expert. I may be wrong about some/ a lot of this stuff. I would just do the sr swap and tune it. this alone will take lots of time and money. once thats done, you'll still have plenty of time to figure out how you want to do the body work. Again, I am not an expert. I wouldn't have tried to give you this information as I am not 100% sure on this. But everybody else who bothered to answer was a dick, so better me than nothing...

for the ASSCLOWN who told him to get an s15 and not make his s13 a show car. Your a jerk. To import an s15 would cost outrageous amounts of cash. Why can't someone turn an s13 into a show car, are they not appealing looking cars? ASSCLOWNS

Hey man, I really appreciate your support. I'll be sure to talk to the shop doing the work for me and figure out exactly what the hell is going on with all this. I just really want the car to look truley clean, not like one of those accords where the guys mold the Altezza headlights and taillights in there and it looks like ass. As far as what I already have, that would be everything from the front end of a JDM s15. There's a front end of a car (including the motor, tranny and differential) waiting at a port in the bay area and it's being delivered to the shop any day. That's what I have to work with and I'll see how far I can get with that. Once again, I really appreciate you being so helpful here, it's obviously rare to find someone like that. Thanks man, I'll try to keep you and anyone else who cares posted :D

Why don't you guys hop off his nuts? It's his car, his money, let him do what he wants with it. If you think something he is doing isn't the best way to approach it, simply tell him. Don't just be an asshole and post smart ass remarks or comments. If you don't have something neutral or positive to say, then shut the fuck up. :asshole

Anyway, G-Spot, IMO, use anything and everything you possibly can from the clip, swap out the motor, lights, etc. Take it one step at a time, and don't rush things. Better to do it right the first time the have to go back and fix it later down the road. Let us know what you decide to do, im interested atleast...got any pics of the clip yet?

Tyler

Thanks Tyler. No, I don't have any pics yet cuz the parts still haven't been delivered to the shop. When I go back up to the bay area on December 20, I'll try to get some pics for you guys.

BTW, I'll admit it was pretty fvcking stupid of me to misspell "Silvia" :p

I found out today that even if the JDM fenders don't work, I can get a pair of conversion fenders for only $525, which is a lot less than I would have expected to pay for them. Looks like all in all everything's gonna work out fine. Now I just have to decide what I wanna do about the brake situation.

Hmm....I would suggest you TRY to take care or figure out the "go" and "stop" part of your car before you do any exterior work.

It sucks to have a nice looking car, but nothing to back it up......trust me thats how I feel right now. :(

edit: I also recommend you checkout side skirts and rear bumper to go with that front end and find some decent pricing on a paint job.

Don't worry bro, I've got the "go" part taken care of. The motor, tranny and differential are all being installed at the same time along with an HKS SSQV blow off valve, turbo timer, mega flow intake, several gauges, and I already have an Apex-i exhaust. Still haven't found a downpipe for a good price though. As far as the "stop" part of it, I've got that pretty much taken care of too, I just need to decide whether to use stock Z brakes or an upgrade kit. I'm with you 100% on the side skirts and rear bumper, but I just don't have the funds for all that right now. So actually, the "go" and "stop" is taking priority over the "show". Thanks for your concern though, good lookin out :)

Post some pictures when your done. I am considering doing the same thing to my 95. I am waiting on my sr to get here. I have already done almost everything to get the car to handle/brake the best it can. If you find a good hook up on the parts you need pm me with the info, I just might do it as well. Good luck bro!

I think it's pretty ballsy to do a swap, face conversion, and brake swap all at once.

the amount of shit that could go wrong with any of it is high. I would've done them all in steps.

brakes, then swap, then headlight conversion. Thats why I keep wishing G-spot good luck. I think he is going to need it to get through it all with sanity intact....

good luck....

LOL :hhahaha Thanks man, but I think I've got all my bases covered. Actually the reason I'm doing it all at once is because the shop is in the Bay Area and I'm usually in San Diego these days... that I'm and one impatient motherfvcker :D . And really there's not all that much that can go wrong. With the news today that I can get those kit fenders for like 500 bucks, that pretty much answers my last question. The actual labor is being done by a reputable shop with a money back guarantee. What else can I ask for?
